It’s a short online test*, designed to understand your learning mindset & problem-solving skills. *Please note: You can attempt The Firewall test via a desktop/laptop browser only. Desktop Laptop Why is there a Firewall Test? At SOAL, we believe that anyone who wants to learn can learn. In line with this idea, we do not filter out applications based on educational qualifications and work experience. 8. What do I need to know for clearing the Firewall Test? Nothing that you already don’t know. Firewall requires little to no formal preparation and is designed to provide just insights into your mindset, aptitude, and ability to learn. So go ahead and take the test without any fear.

  12. Test Prep Outcomes we seek from each section, practise sessions & everything in between Our Application Test requires little to no preparation & you can opt for the test without learning anything prior. However, to ease your journey into the test, we’ve curated a guide to help you seamlessly clear the test. "By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail" -Benjamin Franklin

  13. Product Engineering Know: This section deals with Multiple choice questions to understand your mindset. While there’s no way to prepare for this, we essentially seek to understand whether you have a growth & learning mindset as opposed to a fixed mindset. This should help you understand the kind of learners we seek to enrol in our organisation & aid the way you answer the tests accordingly. Play: Our Play section is designed for us to understand how well-versed you are with Javascript functions and use that as a yardstick for future references. While there’s no way to prepare for this, we essentially seek to understand whether you have a growth & learning mindset as opposed to a fixed mindset. This should help you understand the kind of learners we seek to enrol in our organisation & aid the way you answer the tests accordingly. For the uninitiated, Coding is essentially nothing but a set of commands that you tell the computer to perform in a predefined manner. You program the website to perform certain responses to lead to set actions. Eg: You may program the refresh icon on the website to perform the refresh icon & set the F5 function key to achieve the same action. That’s programming in a nutshell. Practise basic javascript functions & see what they’re like here- https://www.hackerrank.com/domains/tutorials/10-days-of- javascript

  14. Product Design As mentioned earlier, we seek to understand your thought process & problem-solving skills from a design perspective. The test will present you with various scenarios & problems in which you will be asked to provide your solutions & perspective while outlining the process for the same. To perform your best on the test, read the article link attached below & keep the following points in mind & use them as guidelines while answering the questions. This will help you look at the questions from a different perspective & answer better. Article: What is Design Thinking and Why Is It So Popular? Look within: What’s the deeper problem? What really is the issue? Instead of just talking about the superficial problem, dig deeper to draw out the underlying root problem. For instance, in the link mentioned above, the problem with the truck could have been solved if one simply dug deeper & observed the real problem of the truck literally not being able to clear the bridge because of its height. Note all stakeholders involved: Everyone’s got biases. You need to step outside of your own biased personal experience & really think about the scenario as a system and be objective about it. This is done best by noting all the stakeholders, users & persons involved in the system.

  15. Pay attention: Some of the questions may seem tricky. So read carefully to understand what answer is expected. Feel free to use the Internet: Some questions may require you to research. And that’s okay. If you don’t know some aspects, feel free to use whatever means necessary (books, Magazine Articles, Google etc) to grasp the concepts and frame your solutions accordingly. We’re not in school anymore! Empathise: Put yourself in their shoes & think about people's behaviour & psychology. Understand how they would react. Think about the user psychology involved while giving the justifications. Again, instead of providing superficial responses, give more in-depth answers.

  16. Failed the test? We’ve got you covered. At SOAL, failure is not a bad thing. After all, it's a part & parcel of learning! So if you’ve failed the test, don’t worry. You may re-attempt the test again in 7 days. You must, however, go through the above information before you attempt the test once again. "Failure is only the opportunity more intelligently to begin again." - Henry Ford
