METHODOLOGY Under the Udyami program funded by USAID, 132 women, including grassroots leaders, cooperative members, and microentrepreneurs, were provided with smartphones With the purpose tosupport their development as grassroots micro-entrepreneurs and advocates for women in the informal economy. Data from 90 of these recipients were gathered through a telephonic survey.
KEY FINDINGS Approximately 49% of women adopted digital payments, 30% of microentrepreneurs embraced Internet and social media for business purposes, while grassroots leaders utilized WhatsApp for community communication and sharing informative materials. These findings highlight the potential of efforts to narrow the digital divide and enhance equitable technology access, which can yield significant societal benefits.
