In most cases, Osteoarthritis causes are not clear. Many factors cause osteoarthritis including – age, excess weight, injury to the knee joint, muscle weakness, or family history. There are many risk factors of OA but the commonest risk factor is growing age. OA can happen in young adults – mostly due to knee joint injury. OA usually occurs in older people who are over the age of 45, women are more prone to have OA than men. A current study claims that osteoarthritis is so common that it beats many other diseases in India such as diabetes. How can I differentiate that my knee pain is due to arthritis or something else? There are few things that are common with osteoarthritis: ● ● ● ● ● Pain in your knees, pain aggravates with exertion You are taking medicine to get rid of the pain Facing pain and difficulty while climbing stairs and standing up from the ground Having a clicking and popping sound during joint movement Sometimes you may feel swelling in your joint All these symptoms you face in your day-to-day activity regularly. ● In the advanced disease stage, leg deformities are visible.
