Purpose and process l.jpg
Purpose and Process

Goldilocks and the Three Bears is a story that appeals to children and adults. Among the many things the story teaches, we learn that we should respect what is not ours.

In this project, Elliott Kindergarten students read different versions of the story, recreated their own retelling of the story, drew scenes on paper as well as in graphics programs on the computer, typed sentences that describe these scenes, digitized voices, and learned about different types of bears and issues around them from the Internet.

From these Internet searches, students learned that the Grizzly Bear is being taken off the Endangered Species list this year. The Sierra Club is requesting petitions and letters by July 5, 2002 to demand that provisions are made to protect these bears from people who will take what is not theirs -- including their food, their forests, their lives. We, the students and staff at Elliott, also care about these special bears.

We, the Kindergarten classes at Elliott, created this presentation in response to this call for action. After showing our school the movie version of this presentation, we gathered signatures of all Elliott students for the purpose of protecting these bears. We want to make sure that these bears will have enough provisions to ensure their future. Our attached Goldilocks and the Grizzly Bear story, movie, and entire-school signatures are dedicated to these Grizzly Bears, whose homes are also in danger.
