2. Description It is neither a secret nor of mere consequence that artists are a unique set of people. It is a well - established fact that we tend to process life differently. Whether it be the ways in which we synthesize sensory information or the extra layers of conceptual observation that we naturally tend to compound onto aspects of a life lived - we, at times, present as somewhat “offbeat” from the rest of society. This is what makes our visual and performance - based art remarkable. Can I tell you? God thinks it is beautiful. Our Father takes pride in what He has created and, make no mistake, our uniqueness - your uniqueness - is embossed with the careful craftsmanship of the God of the Universe. Abba loves all of His children. However, I am convinced that artists hold an especially tender place within the heart of our Lord. It is vital that we who profess His name, remain firmly tethered to the light of God’s truth because it is this spiritual reliance that will inform the parts of our work that will most powerfully display the glory of the One who has breathed life into us. It is for this reason that the Lord wants to connect with the artistic demographic in a meaningful way. Just as millions of plant species require special care, so do the various sub - groups of humanity require “watering” by the Almighty - the kind of watering that our specific roots are able to absorb. Enter “The Artist’s Devotional”. This labour of love, co - authored over the course of a year by my beloved mother (a visual artist) and myself (a performing artist) is an ode to the communities that have fostered our respective journeys - the communities with which we empathize and share a bond rooted in the urge to constantly add colour and creativity to the world. We say to you all: We see you. We love you. God sees you. God loves you. Dear reader, it is our earnest prayer that this collection of meditations will fuel your mornings, balance your afternoons and soothe your nights. We hope that the nuggets herein will, in one way or another, fortify your spiritual life and remind you that you are loved and that your gift matters. We are all sojourning life together.
