  1. WHAT IS THE MEANING OF IMPACT ASSESSMENT?

  2. ASSESSMENT OF THE EFFECTS Impact Assessment is a method of evaluating the efficacy of organisational actions and determining the importance of the alterations that such operations have caused. This is neither art nor science, but a combination of the two. Impact assessment is inextricably related to the organization's mission and, as a result, has a rippling effect. The ability to analyse and communicate effectively is a significant tool for articulating the contributions of operations to the IFRC and NS missions both within and publicly. The impact is defined as the good and bad, intentional or unforeseen lengthy outcomes created, either directly or indirectly, by an IFRC activity or National Society. The contributions of the action to the overall objective should be viewed as impact. There are some types of impact assessments such as Crime Impact Assessment, Environmental Assessment, and Policy Impact Assessment. Impact

  3. THE IMPACT PROBLEM In development initiatives, impact evaluation is simple. The impact is supported by a significant body of research, a richness of expertise, and widely established conventions and procedures. In the humanitarian context, however, this is not the case. The effect is justified by the advent of Results-Based Management approaches and a mentality that views impact practices in the development sector as transferrable to the humanitarian context. It isn't the case. This is the crux of the issue. The impact assessment will stay a difficult subject until there are agreed-upon rules and guidelines across the humanitarian industry. And what is the best way to deal with this issue? To begin, both the donor community and the humanitarian sector must acknowledge the issue and collaborate to examine the effect from a new angle.

  4. THE IMPACT PROBLEM Because measuring in complex and turbulent contexts is challenging, a more intuitive technique is required. The efficacy, relevance, and long-term viability of an intervention determine its impact. The focus of effect evaluation should be on looking at initiatives as a whole and asking, simply, "Did it address actual needs?" This gets me to the second topic, which is the issue of confirmation. The goal of impact assessment is to make decisions about how humanitarian initiatives will affect the people who will benefit from them. It is a feature of the outcomes chain and an important aspect of surveillance and assessment, and it should be included in the project's design. Internal and external inquiries must be asked to examine the entire degree of the impact.

  5. INTERNALLY 1. Determine the relevancy of tactics – do existing approaches contribute to the general goal? 2. Assess the efficacy of organizational frameworks and administration systems – are there any places where frameworks obstruct the achievement of the general objective?

  6. INTERNALLY 3. Assess communications – are messages being successfully conveyed throughout the organization, is data being fed to correct areas at the appropriate moments, is everyone informed and notified, is the necessity to guarantee substantial and favourable impacts implanted in the organization's culture, and are we doing everything we can to confirm that we are efficient?

  7. EXTERNALLY 1. Demonstrate the effect of donors' efforts by establishing a relationship between donations and improvements in recipients' lives. 2. Demonstrate the efficacy, relevance, and reliability of operations to the general public — the impact can lead to increased support. 3. Emphasize to potential donors the organization's focus, which is on achieving change rather than focusing on the procedure.

  8. EXTERNALLY 4. Improve advocacy - ensure that the vulnerable "voices" are heard by being an influential spokesperson for them. 5. Promote transparency – to demonstrate that the organisation is competent and well- functioning, capable of mobilising support and achieving the ultimate aim. 6. Make yourself available for inspection – for independent confirmation.
