  1. What is FTP & How to Create an FTP Account In cPanel? FTP account stands for file transmission protocol, a set of protocols that is a network transmission standard that uses TCP transmission control protocol. FTP allows data to transfer between two computers over the internet connection. TCP is what makes FTP reliable, checking that your data arrives at its actual destination. The FTP client and FTP server relationship use the FTP to facilitate communication. FTP clients send signals to the other channel which facilitates the FTP commands. The FTP then accepts or denies the command access, then the client initiates its upload or download on the data channel so that the control channel remains open for the browsing files. Want to Add a New Domain to your cPanel? Read: How to Add a New Domain in your cPanel? Usage of FTP FTP generally allows files to be managed instantly and saved without going through a cPanel account. The interface of most FTP clients is a lot more efficient for longer operations. That’s the main reason FTP clients can also keep a log of transfers, which can be quite useful. You can also see the various transfers that have taken place on the server via FTP. So, because of these added-on facilities, you can use FTP instead of having cPanel. Without giving access to the cPanel to other users, additional FTP accounts can be created. Different levels of access can be provided by assigning the users to a specific directory. Want to create a subdomain in your cPanel?

Go to the ‘Files’ section below the ‘Email’ section. 3. Then click on the ‘FTP Accounts’ option. 4. Here you will see a new page with 4 textboxes. 5. In the 'Login' text box, enter the username for the FTP Account. 6. Select the desired Domain Name from the drop-down menu. 7. Now type the password that you want to use in the ‘Password' text box. 8. And in the 'Password (Again)' text box, type the password again. 9. The strength bar shows the relative strength of the password you entered. 10. We recommend using cPanel's 'Password Generator' option, which will generate a random, strong password for you. 11. You may also use 'Advanced Options' to comply with any organizational password standards, such as minimum password length, uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols. Copy the password into a safe place. Check the box and then press the 'Use Password' button. 12. In the 'Directory' text box, type the directory to which the FTP account will have access. The FTP accounts username will be the default name for this directory, which is located under your public HTML directory by default. 13. Now you can specify the quota for the FTP account. By default, the quota will be unlimited. To set a quota, type the number, in megabytes, for the maximum directory size. 14. Now click on ‘Create FTP Account’ and your FTP account will be created.

  3. 15. You can now see the list of FTP Accounts by navigating to the ‘Files’ section and then ‘FTP Accounts’. Source - https://www.hostitsmart.com/manage/knowledgebase/226/What-is- FTP-and-How-to-Create-an-FTP-Account-In-cPanel.html
