  2. PLURALS The plural of a noun is the form of it that is used to refer to more than one person orthing. In English, most nouns add – s to formthe plural: Stamp, stamps key,keys camera,cameras

  3. PLURALS EXCEPTIONS: 1. If the noun ends in – s, - ss, - sh,- o, -x or - ch, add – es. bus- buses class-classes wish- wishes match- matches box-boxes tomato-tomatoes

  4. PLURALS EXCEPTIONS: 2. If the noun ends in a consonant + - y, the y changes to ies. country, countries party, parties But if the noun ends in a vowel + - y, the y doesn’t change. Key, keys day,days

  5. PLURALS Some nouns are completely irregular: Child children person people Woman women man men A few nouns form their plural by a vowel change: Foot feet mouse mice Tooth teeth

  6. PLURALS Twelve nouns ending in f or fe omit the f or fe and add ves: Calf, half,knife, leaf, life,loaf,self,shelf,sheaf,thief,wife,wolf : Loaf, loaves wife,wives wolf,wolves etc. * Scarf is also included in this list.
