What is ISSA? • The Information Systems Security Association (ISSA)® • Is a non-profit, international organization of information security professionals and practitioners • Enhances the knowledge, skill and professional growth of its members by providing: • educational forums, • publications • peer interaction opportunities • Has 125 chapters in 35 countries • Has 10,000 members across 70 countries • http://www.issa.org

What is ISSA-NOVA? • The Northern Virginia Chapter of ISSA (ISSA-NOVA) • Is the largest ISSA Chapter in the world • Has More than 500 members • More than 75% of them have a CISSP or other security and/or network certifications • Sponsors two IA scholarships a year • The Laurie McQuillan ISSA-NOVA Scholarship at GMU • George Washington University • Our mission is to provide continuous education and networking for its members via outstanding monthly presentations from a wide variety of speakers including authors, key executives, and well regarded Information Assurance professionals. • http://www.issa-nova.org

Why should ‘I’ become a member? • CPE’s for your certification! • 2 CPE’s per meeting • CISSP’s == 120 CPE’s/3 yrs • After April 30th 2008 – min. 20 CPE’s/yr • SSCP’s & CAP’s == 60 CPE’s/3 yrs • After April 30th 2008 – min. 10 CPE’s/yr • CISA’s == 120 CPE’s/3 yrs & min. 20 CPE’s/yr • Educational discounts from • ISC2, SANS, FOSE, etc. • CISSP Study Group • Only $300 compared to $2,000 • 3hrs/week for 13 weeks (food & drink included)

Membership Types • All membership types below (except Trial) require local chapter dues - $25/yr • Required for all chapter benefits and voting privileges. • General - $95/yr with multi-year discounts • CISO - $995/yr • Free registration at 4 CISO Executive Forums per year, including lodging for one night and all meals at each Forum • Extensive networking opportunities with peers and experts on an on-going basis • Privileged access to online information and discussion forums • Direct access to top subject matter experts through educational seminars and online discussions • An effective forum for understanding and influencing relevant standards and legislation • A unified voice to influence industry vendors • Automatic CPE submission • 2 bonus memberships to the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA)® for you and your staff • Student - $30/yr • Same as General without voting privileges or holding ISSA International board seat. • Trial - Free – 90 days

Membership Types • Corporate Organizational - $115/yr • Per individual, but the membership is transferrable as reassignments occur. • When a specific individual has not been assigned, this class of membership will have all rights and privileges of a General Memberexcept the right to vote and hold office. • If an individual is assigned to this membership and this person signs and complies with the Code of Ethics, that person will be able to vote and hold office. • Government Organizational - $90/yr • Same as the Corporate membership but with a government discount.
