  2. CESEW Census2010 (England) SIMS Application 2

  3. Click Routines 3

  4. Click Statutory Returns 4

  5. Click CESEW Census 5

  6. Click to select a secure folder 6

  7. 7

  8. We recommend using the same folder that was used for School Census Spring, as this will have more than enough security already in place. 8

  9. 9

  10. 10

  11. In line with all SIMS Census applications, you can now enter a security message to be printed on all Detail Reports 11

  12. Here we have identified a member of staff to return the report to when colleagues have finished with it. 12

  13. Click off the Security Message box to ensure that the new text is saved 13

  14. 14

  15. Click New to start the process for creating a Return 15

  16. The Reference Date has defaulted to the School Census Spring 2010 Reference Date and should only be changed in the unlikely event that the School Census Spring 2010 Reference Date was changed. 16

  17. The description is used for identification within the application only and does not form part of the Return file. 17

  18. Click to move to the School Information panel 18

  19. This first part of the school is greyed as it cannot be adjusted from this panel. However the user can click School Detail to make any changes that are necessary, 19

  20. Hovering your pointer over a field will give you a description of the content of the field and an indication as to whether it is mandatory or optional. Contact Title is mandatory … 20

  21. … Contact Email is optional 21

  22. Click for the list of dioceses to choose from 22

  23. 23

  24. 24

  25. Now fill in the remaining items in the panel 25

  26. 26

  27. Click Calculate All Details to provide default positions based on current information for each of the panels that have a Recalculate button 27

  28. 28

  29. Recalculate is the same as Calculate All except that it is confined to a single panel 29

  30. This screen illustrates the colour indicators we have introduced for this Census. Bright yellow where information has been collected from SIMS Pale yellow where information has been entered directly in the panel White where information has not been collected from SIMS or entered directly in the panel 30

  31. Click to move to the Leadership Group panel Click to move to the Leadership Group panel 31

  32. This defaults to Not Applicable, but the user can click to change this. 32

  33. 33

  34. The leadership gender and ethnicity has been obtained from Personnel 7. Names are shown in the panel to aid clarity, but the names are not written to the return file. New and Delete buttons have been provided, but it is envisaged that they will not be used where Personnel 7 is in use. 34

  35. Vacancy information is not held by SIMS, so click the New button to add a vacancy row. 35

  36. Click to add the Role. 36

  37. Choose the role for the vacancy 37

  38. Choose the number of terms for the vacancy. 38

  39. Click to move to the Staff Ethnicity panel Click to move to the Teaching Staff Ethnicity panel 39

  40. This staff ethnicity information is calculated from Personnel 7 and it is always better to deal with errors via changing the Personnel 7 information. However it is also possible to adjust the number of staff overall and the number of staff for a particular ethnicity 40

  41. The Total Teaching Staff has been edited so to increase it from 62 to 63 41

  42. The ethnicity for this additional teacher should be entered 42

  43. Click to move to the RE Teaching panel 43

  44. This RE teaching information has not been calculated, but it should be entered directly into the panel 44

  45. 45

  46. Click to move to the Pupil Ethnicity panel 46

  47. The pupil ethnicity information has been collected from Core and we expect it to be very accurate. However, pupils with a Registration Status of Subsidiary Dual Registration are excluded from this School level Return, to avoid double counting, but they are included in the School Census which includes pupil level information. 47

  48. Click to move to the Destination of last year’s Year 11 pupils panel 48

  49. We have calculated some of this information from Core, but it should be checked carefully in case the information is missing for some pupils. 49
