Live Empowered: Action and Advice www.jessicayaffa.org
At the Jessica Yaffa Coaching Institute, we often work with clients on empowerment, what it means, and what it looks like in action. Living empowered means living with a sense of agency, autonomy, and confidence. Empowerment in action can look like making choices and taking actions that align with your values, desires, and goals and embracing your strengths and vulnerabilities to actively shape your life in alignment with your values and aspirations. In this blog post, we’ll share our empowerment practices and self- reflection prompts to help you live empowered.
Self-Reflection Prompts 1. What areas in my life do I desire to feel more empowered? What does empowerment look like in those areas of life? What empowerment practices will help me achieve my desires above? How will I implement these practices? 2. 3. 4. Empowerment Practices
1.Operate from a place of my “authentic self” Listen to my gut, my inner voice, my instinct. That is my north star, my guidepost, and my starting point for my decision making. 2.Be self-aware Understanding my strengths, weaknesses (opportunities), and passions is crucial for empowerment. It allows me to focus energy into the things I’m passionate about and prepare for my areas of opportunity. It allows me to make informed decisions and take actions that are in line with my authentic self. Ability to recognize and understand my own thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and motivations, and communicate from that place.
3.Embracing self-acceptance We are perfectly imperfect. There is beauty in imperfection. Through self-acceptance and the recognition that life is imperfect we can relax into the notion that we do not have to be perfect. We can acknowledge that we are works in progress and our only job is to grow into a better version of ourselves. 4.Take responsibility Empowered individuals take responsibility for their thoughts, feelings, and actions. They don’t blame others for their circumstances but instead focus on what they can control and influence.
5.Boundary setting Setting healthy boundaries is essential for maintaining your autonomy and well-being. Knowing when to say no to things that don’t serve you and when to assert your needs and preferences. 6.Continuous learning and growth Embracing a mindset of continuous learning and growth is essential for empowerment. This involves seeking out new experiences, challenging yourself, and being open to feedback and self-improvement. This allows for goal setting, accomplishment, success, and learning.
7.Action oriented Empowerment is not just about thinking or feeling empowered; it’s about taking action. Empowered individuals are proactive. Empowered individuals pursue their goals and aspirations, even in the face of challenges or setbacks. Empowered individuals learn from their mistakes, can pivot, reassess, readdress, and keep going/pursuing. 8.Supporting others Empowerment is not a zero-sum game; it’s about uplifting others. Empowered individuals support and encourage those around them to reach their full potential, fostering a culture and environment of empowerment.
