  1. What to Do With Your Wedding Dress After the Big Day You've enjoyed every minute of your wedding day and wished it never had to end, everyone told you it would pass you by in a flash and it certainly did. So now you're left with the wonderful memories of making that life commitment to the one you love and had a relaxing time on your honeymoon you're back to reality and pondering what exactly to do with your wedding dress. Many brides will choose to follow the tradition of keeping their wedding dress to pass on to generations within the family, be that a future daughter, god daughter or niece. However do you know of any brides that got married in a family member's wedding dress recently... We thought not! Fashions and weddings are moving with the times and choosing to wear an inherited gown is becoming a rare occurrence. There are many things you can do with your gown after your big day. If you are a dab hand at sewing and making things then why not create a beautiful quilt or some decorative pillows from the train and skirt. If you're planning on starting a family of your own or are about to become a godparent the fabric from wedding dresses can make a stunning christening or communion dress. Other ideas include making some drawstring handbags, fabric flowers to put around your home or to give to someone special as a gift, teddy and dolls outfits, table runners and christmas tree skirts. If you attend balls and evening functions then consider dying your dress in one of your favourite colours and wear it again. You could have the train taken off and use that fabric to have a bolero or wrap to made to compliment your new redesigned gown. Another option is to have the skirt shortened and the dress transformed into a cocktail style. How lovely to wear your wedding dress over and over again! If chopping your dress up fills you with dread then how about letting another bride get some love and enjoyment from wearing your wedding gown. Get some money in your back pocket for a weekend away with your new hubby by selling it online or in your local free ads paper. Help a worthy cause of your choice by donating it to a local charity shop, raising money to help others whilst helping a budget restricted bride is a wonderfully generous gesture.

  2. Or if you didn't get enough of the paparazzi on your wedding day why not arrange to have a photoshoot of you trashing the dress. This new craze is simply having pictures taken of yourself and the groom too being as imaginative as you can and literally destroying your gown. From throwing paint at each other, rolling around in a field, jumping into a lake and setting fire to the dress - dare you? Of course you don't have to end up spoiling your gown, you could always have some seductive sunset or moonlight shots taken on a beach or in the woods. With so much choice you might like to have a few months to adjust into married life before deciding exactly what to do with your wedding dress. We would recommend that you do get your gown dry cleaned soon after your big day as the longer you leave it the tougher it will be to shift any stains.
