  2. INTRODUCTION Hydraulic valves are mechanical tools that regulate the flow of a liquid by opening and closing (hence the name). The key function for such a device is to direct the flow of a liquid medium that enables the movement of loads and actuators across the hydraulic system. Hydraulic valves are available in a wide range of sizes, as well as mounting styles. There are three major types of hydraulic valves that will be discussed in the next part of the presentation along with their sub-types.
