  1. Mobile Concrete Pte Ltd

  2. Our Company Mission To encourage sustainable construction by looking at the recycling cycle of concrete aggregates Vision To promote new sustainable construction technology in Singapore through intensive Research and Development

  3. Proposed New Construction Technology: The SRS (Sustainable Recycling System) An Integrated on-site recycling system

  4. Overview Recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) Our Proposed Concept – The SRS Site Management

  5. Why recycle? • Indonesia Cambodia and Vietnam banned sand exports to Singapore. • Singapore’s construction industry is vulnerable. • Government and industry partners encourage extensive adoption of sustainable materials.

  6. Recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) • What? • Aggregates which derive from buildings after demolition • Current uses • Road works: use as sub-base • Non-structural works: in eco-concrete. Eg: kerbs, drains, footpath • Structural works: elements of buildings (subjected to BCA approval)

  7. Recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) • Advantages • Cheaper than natural aggregates • Reduce the amount of landfill needed for disposal of C&D waste • Reduce transportation and dumping costs • Green and environmentally friendly • High quality – meet or exceeding application specifications as compared to normal concrete • Provides for superior compaction and constructability • Is currently being used in concrete and asphalt products with better performance over comparable virgin aggregates • Is of higher yield • Weights 10% - 15% less than comparable virgin quarry products (concrete) and natural aggregates

  8. Recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) • Current concerns • Lack of knowledge on advanced technology • Not widely used in local context • Lack of confidence • Perspective • Video (RAC vs NAC)

  9. Recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) • Case Study • Local application • 100% RCA building by Sam Woh • BCA did an in depth study on RCA • SS EN 12620 to approved the used of RCA gradually

  10. Recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) • Case Study • Overseas application (Japan) • Biotope Soga symbiosis building installed in Chiba Heating Power Area • Waste Incinerator Building located in Yokohama Thermal Power Plant

  11. Current Recycling Process

  12. The Recycling Process

  13. The Recycling Process

  14. Various Aggregates

  15. Current Recycling Process Disadvantages • Time consuming • Cost incurred for transportation • Time lag

  16. Our Proposed Concept The Integrated SRS (Sustainable Recycling System)

  17. Main Factors Considered • Economies of scale • Mobility and efficiency of machineries • Quality of recycled aggregates (RCA) • Site planning and management • Market forces and acceptance • Government support and regulations

  18. All-rounded Concrete Recycling System • 3 main Components: • Mobile Recycler • Mobile Batching Plant • Mobile Reclaimer - All processes carried out on-site - Site Management to be considered

  19. On-Site Recycling Cycle

  20. On-Site Recycling Cycle Recycling Plant RCA RAC Fine Aggregates Unused concrete Unused concrete Reclaimer Batching Plant Site

  21. The SRS is an all rounded, mobile concrete recycling and batching system designed for maximum flexibility, efficiency and green technology – and it is able to cater to the requirements of most construction sites

  22. Stage 1 – Demolition Site 1) Demolition

  23. SRS Component 1 – Mobile Recycling Plant

  24. SRS Component 2 – Mobile Batching Plant • Main Components: • Mobile hopper • Mobile Mixing Unit • Mobile Silos

  25. SRS Component 3 – Mobile Reclaimer • Key Features • Patented technology • Reclaim sand, aggregates, slurry water from concrete waste • Slurry water can be channeled back to batching plant for manufacture of concrete

  26. The Integrated SRSA Simple Demonstration

  27. Site Management

  28. Methods Of Recycling • Centralized Method • Surround Method • Sectional Method - Encompasses sectional method

  29. 3 in 1 on-site recycling plant

  30. Advantages • Save time on transportation - Rejection of bad quality - Congestion due to traffic - JIT (Just In Time) • Easy set-up - Connectivity • Cost Saving • Flexibility - Can be used in different scenarios

  31. Scale Based Project • Concern • May not be suitable for small scale construction projects • Scale of project suitable for used

  32. Our Recommendations

  33. Quality Assurance Recycle Like Never Before

  34. QUESTIONS ???
