Steering Committee, comprised of focus group chairs will meet monthly • Focus groups make recommendations to the Council at the quarterly meetings for approval • Council members need to identify representatives from their Companies/organizations to participate in the focus group ……this is key! • This work is instrumental to the success!

Explore and report on actions that may be necessary to ensure that commercial telecom service networks can meet the special needs of public safety communications including the means to prioritize communications. Deliverables: January, 2004

  8. Focus Group 1: Homeland Security D. Disaster Recovery and Mutual Aid Chair: TBD Mission: Prepare and institute mechanisms for distributing contact information for telecommunications industry personnel essential to telecommunications services restoration. Report on the viability of past or present mutual aid agreements and develop, and report on, any additional perspectives that may be appropriate to facilitate effective telecommunications restorations. Deliverables: Within six months of first meeting.

Aduskevicz Ross Callon Tom Donahue AT&T Juniper Comcast 908-234-5790 978-692-6724 Mission: Recommend requirements and associated measurements for network reliability and report on the reliability of public telecom network services in the U.S. for circuit switch networks and for packet switched networks. Report on the reliability of the public telecom network services in the U.S. Deliverables: Within 12 months of first meeting and January 6, 2004

  10. Focus Group 3: Network Interoperability Chair: Cliff Naughton Boeing 425 957 5144 Mission: Identify interoperability between circuit-switched and packet-switched networks. Prepare analyses and, where appropriate, make recommendations to identify and address interoperability between circuit-switched and packet-switched networks. Deliverables: January 6, 2004

  11. Focus Group 4: Broadband Chair: TBD Mission: Produce recommendations concerning the need for technical standards to ensure compatibility between alternative broadband access platforms. Deliverables: January 6, 2004
