  1. Why Small Engineering Company Needs Business Strategists. Jaime McIntyre Jaime McIntyre:Engineers may not have had exposure to business management courses in school, and they may lack experience in operating a business. Engineers are trained to think logically as well as in a linear fashion. They seldom proceed to step two until step one is addressed. Also, they are uncomfortable with the unknown. Every query needs to have an answer, and the answer needs to stand up to all challenges. When engineers put up a technical business, they use a lawyer to advise them on the merits of the different legal structures and the protection of intellectual property as well as an accountant to give advice and maybe oversee the financial recording system. Once business questions come up, the owner often turns first to business experts like Jaime McIntyre for suggestions. This precludes real involvement and a bit of effort spent on relationship building. Communication fails to solve the underlying motivations. What’s the owner of the business thinking for the future? What is happening with workers? Are there personal issues or agendas which could or must be addressed in the decisions? The bottom line is that technically skilled business managers and owners will face their most demanding challenges if company-threatening issues or once-in-a- lifetime chances happen and they have insufficient resources and less than optimum advisors from which to draw. If you have a small business and facing issues in operating it, you can ask help from Jaime McIntyre.
