There are different types of weighing machines available, including analog and digital scales, spring scales, balance scales, and electronic scales. They are used in industries such as agriculture, manufacturing, and transportation to weigh goods and materials. An overview of Weighing Machine License A Weighing Machine License issued by the Legal Metrology Department of the Government of India is a legal document. LMPC certificate is compulsory for manufacturers, repairs, or deals in weighing and measuring instruments, including weighing machines. The license is legally required to meet legal standards, and assure that weighing machines are calibrated, and verified.

  3. The Weighing Machine License is governed by the Legal Metrology (General) Rules, 2011, and Legal Metrology Act, 2009. The license is issued by the Controller of Legal Metrology of the state where the business is located. The license is valid for five years, after which it must be renewed. It is important to note that weighing machines must be verified and calibrated periodically, as per the legal metrology laws and regulations. The licensee must ensure that all weighing machines are verified and calibrated as required, and must maintain records of the same. Important terms under the Legal Metrology Rules, 2011 The Legal Metrology Rules, 2011, lay down the legal standards and regulations for weighing and measuring instruments in India. Some important terms under these rules are: 1. Calibration: Calibration refers to the process of adjusting and setting the weighing and measuring instruments to ensure that they give accurate and reliable measurements. 4. Standard weight or measure: Standard weight or measure refers to the physical object or device that represents the legal standard for weight or measure.

Dealer: Dealer refers to a person who sells, distributes, or supplies weighing or measuring instruments. 7. Repairer: Repairer refers to a person who repairs, maintains, or modifies weighing or measuring instruments. 8. Packaged Commodities: Packaged commodities refer to any commodity that is placed in a package or container for sale, distribution, or delivery. 9. Net quantity: Net quantity refers to the actual quantity of a commodity contained in a package or container, after deducting the weight of the packaging material. 10.Marking: Marking refers to the process of affixing or inscribing labels, stamps, or other marks on weighing or measuring instruments, or on packaged commodities, to provide information about their quantity, price, or other relevant details. 11.Sealing: Sealing refers to the process of locking or securing the weighing or measuring instruments, or the packages or containers containing the commodities, to prevent tampering or unauthorized access. 12.Penalty: Penalty refers to the punishment or fine imposed on a person or entity for violating the legal metrology rules and regulations. Documents require for Weighing Machine License To obtain a legal metrology certificate online for a Weighing Machine in India, the applicant is required to submit the following documents to the Controller of Legal Metrology of the state where the business is located: 1. Application form 2. Proof of ownership or lease of premises

Fee payment receipt Procedure for obtaining Weighing Machine License The procedure for obtaining a Weighing Machine License in India involves the following steps: 1. First step is to submit an application to the Controller of Legal Metrology of the state where the business is located including the name of the applicant, the type of weighing machines to be manufactured, repaired, or traded, and the address of the business. 2. Submission of required documents including proof of ownership or lease of premises, identity proof, address proof, technical competence certificate etc. 3. Once the application and documents are submitted, the Controller of Legal Metrology will conduct an inspection of the premises to be manufactured to ensure that the applicant complies with legal standards and regulations. 4. After the inspection, the weighing machines are verified by the Controller of Legal Metrology to check the accuracy of the machines. 5. After successful inspection and verification, the Controller of Legal Metrology will grant the Weighing Machine License to the applicant.
