  1. Understanding WPC ETA Certification for Wireless Devices in India What is WPC ETA certification? The WPC ETA Certification Programme is a significant certification scheme that helps to guarantee the security, reliability and quality of products which use Wireless Technology. The certification service is managed by the Wireless Planning and Coordination Section of the Indian Ministry of Telecommunications, which has an responsibility for regulation and management of use of telecommunications technologies in India. The WPC certification is a mandatory requirement for any electronic product that uses wireless technology, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, RFID, and other wireless technologies. This certification is required in order to guarantee that the product complies with technical standards and regulatory requirements set by the WPC.

  2. The WPC ETA certification procedure encompasses a series of tests and evaluations to determine whether the device satisfies the technical specifications for wireless products. The tests include electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, which evaluates the product's ability to regulate without interfering with or creating interference with other electronic devices. Testing for radio frequency (RF) emissions is a part of the certification process, which assesses the product's ability to emit radio waves within acceptable limits The types of wireless devices that require WPC ETA certification 1. Wi-Fi Devices: The WPCETA certification is necessary for all devices using WiFI technologies, e.g. routers, modems and access points. To ensure that they comply with the WPC's technical specifications, these devices shall be subjected to EMC and RF testing. 2. Bluetooth Devices: Wd wireless keyboards. These devices also need to undergo EMC and RF testing to ensPC must be certified by ETA for all Bluetooth devices, e.g. headphones, speakers anure that they comply with the WPC's technical standards. 3. RFID Devices: Any device that uses radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology, such as smart cards and contactless payment systems, require WPC ETA certification. These devices need to undergo EMC and RF testing to ensure that they comply with the WPC's technical standards. 4. Cellular Devices: WPCETA certification is required for all devices which use Radio Frequency Identification Technology, such as Smart Cards and Touchless Payment Systems. These devices must undergo RF testing to assure that they comply with the WPC's technical standards for electromagnetic radiation. 5. Satellite Devices: WPC ETA certification is required for any device that uses satellite communications techniques, e.g. satellites phones and tracking devices.

  3. To ensure compliance with the WPC's technical standards regarding electromagnetic radiation, these devices need to undergo RF testing. Information and documentation required for certification 1. Technical Specification: Manufacturers must provide technical specifications on their products, which are equipped with Wireless Technology. This should include details such as operating frequency, transmitting power, modulation type, bandwidth, and other technical parameters. 2. User Manual: Manufacturers must provide a user manual that describes the operation and use of the product. Information such as warnings of risks, operating instructions and maintenance procedures should be included in the manual 3. Test Reports: Manufacturers must offer test results from authorised testing facilities that show their products comply to WPC standards. The reports should cover electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, radio frequency (RF) testing, and any other applicable tests. 4. Declaration of Conformity: Manufacturers are required to produce a declaration of conformity that certifies that their product complies with the WPC's technical specifications and legal standards. 5. Type Approval Application Form: Manufacturers are required to produce a statement of conformity that certifies that their product meets the technical requirements and regulatory standards set by the WPC. 6. Power of Attorney: Manufacturers must submit a power of attorney authorizing a representative to act on their behalf in obtaining the WPC ETA certification. Benefits of WPC ETA certification:

  4. 1. Compliance with Regulations: WPC ETA certification ensures that wireless products comply with the technical standards and regulatory requirements set by the Wireless Planning and Coordination (WPC) wing of the Indian Department of Telecommunications. This compliance is mandatory for any electronic product that uses wireless technology, and certification provides evidence of compliance. 2. Consumer Confidence: WPC ETA certification provides assurance to consumers that the wireless products they are using are safe, reliable, and of high quality. This increases consumer confidence in the products and can lead to increased sales and brand reputation. 3. Market Access: WPC ETA certification is a mandatory requirement for wireless products to be sold in India. Certification enables manufacturers to enter the Indian market and sell their products with ease. 4. Increased Credibility: WPC ETA certification enhances the credibility of manufacturers and distributors in the eyes of customers and stakeholders. This is because certification demonstrates that the products have undergone rigorous testing and meet the technical standards and regulatory requirements set by the WPC. 5. Reduced Liability: WPC ETA certification helps to reduce the liability of manufacturers and distributors by demonstrating that the products meet the technical standards and regulatory requirements set by the WPC. This can help to reduce the risk of legal action and financial penalties
