  2. Introduction • Alexei AnatolievichNavalny is a lawyer, an activist against corruption, and a politician. He is also the leader of the Russian opposition. He’s worth ten million dollars. The Wall Street Journal says that Vladimir Putin is most afraid of Navalny.

  3. Russian Resistance Coordination Chamber • He organised protests, ran for office, and pushed for changes to stop corruption in Russia, especially in President Vladimir Putin’s administration. He is an individual from the Russian resistance Coordination chamber, the organizer behind the Counter Debasement Establishment (FBK), and the head of the “Russia Representing things to come” party. When he went back to Russia, he was arrested and sentenced to nine years in prison in March 2022.

  4. Alexei Navalny Biography • Alexei Anatolievich was born on June 4, 1976, in the Russian city of Butyn to Anatoly Ivanovich and Lyudmila Ivanovna. Son of an army communications officer, he grew up in different military towns around Moscow and finished his summer with his grandmother in the countryside near Chernobyl, Ukraine. Alexei Navalny will be 45 years old in the year 2022.

  5. Education • He went to school at the People’s Friendship University of Russia and got a law degree there in 1998. Before he went to the State Finance Academy and got his master’s degree in 2001. In 2010, he spent a semester there studying as part of Yale University’s World Fellows programme.

  6. Family, Boyfriend, and Girlfriend • Alexei Navalny is from a middle-class family in Butyn, which is in the Odintsovsky District of the Moscow Oblast of the Russian SFSR. He was born in Russia, and he is a Christian.

  7. Early Years in Politics • Navalny joined Yabloko, the Russian United Democratic Party, when he became a lawyer in the late 1990s. He became the vice chairman of the party’s Moscow branch, but his nationalist views got him into trouble with the party’s leaders, and in 2007 he was kicked out of the party. • Read Also: zavieramaxwell

  8. Created the Anti-Corruption Foundation • The next year, Navalny started the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) to look into how state money was being wasted. The results of these investigations were shown in YouTube videos that often made members of Vladimir Putin’s United Russia party look bad. More than 40 million people watched a video from 2017 about how much money Dmitry Medvedev (Prime Minister).

  9. Cheat with Companies • In 2013, Navalny was indicted for stealing $500,000 from a state-owned lumber company. After escape of jail on bail, he ran for mayor of Moscow but lost. In the fall of that year, he and his brother Oleg were arrested again on charges that they had cheated two more Russian companies. His sentence was put on hold for Navalny, but his brother went to prison.

  10. Anti-Corruption Foundation • Navalny was arrested instantly he got back to Moscow in January 2021 for breaking the terms of his probation. In March 2022, he was sent to a maximum-security prison for nine years because he stole money from his Anti-Corruption Foundation while he was on a hunger strike.

  11. Awards and Honors • Navalny was put forward for the Nobel Peace Prize early in 2021. At the same year, the European Parliament gave him the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. The activist was the focus of the 2022 documentary Navalny, which looks at his time recovering in Germany after being poisoned and his trip back to Russia to go to jail.

  12. Economist and Freedom House • People from all over Russia sent Navalny 97.3 million rubles out of a total of 103.4 million rubles spent on the election. This was a shockingly high number, which Navalny got because he made a good first impression, had a great personality, and people trusted him. The campaign was called “a miracle” by “The New Yorker.”
