Its political position is Centre-left operating on the ideologies of Integral humanism, Secularism, and Socialism. Today, the JD(U) has a prominent presence in Arunachal Pradesh and Bihar, especially with leader Nitish Kumar as the Chief Minister in Bihar. JDU has its presence in Karnataka, Bihar, Delhi, Kerala, Arunachal Pradesh,. JDU Karnataka is headed by Sri. Mahima Patel (Ex MLA and S/o Sri. J.H Patel who served as a chief minister of Karnataka from 1996-1999).

  2. Birth of JDU Birth Of The founders of the JD(U) are Sri and Sri Sharad Yadav and Sri Sharad Yadav. The party traces its roots to the Janata Party Sri Jayaprakash Narayan Sri Jayaprakash Narayan, the stalwart who united all anti-Congress parties during an emergency in Indira Gandhi’s reign. The thought process of uniting and forming the party blossomed while the leaders were confined in the Jail cell in Bangalore for protesting the indirect dictatorship led by the congress leader. The Janata Party was renamed as Janata Dal under the leadership of Sri Ramakrishna Hegde, the then chief minister of Karnataka in 1988. The Janata Dal was split in1999 because of the difference in opinion between Sri J.H Patel and Sri H.D Deve Gowda. Later Sri Nitish Kumar joined JDU under the leadership of Late Sri George Fernandes. JDU now is a regional political party in India and Sri Nitish Kumar is taking forward the socialistic principles in Bihar. Its political position is Centre-left operating on the ideologies of Integral humanism, Secularism and Socialism. Today, the JD(U) has a prominent presence in Bihar, especially with leader Nitish Kumar as the Chief Minister.

  3. J. H. Patel J. H. Patel Position: Chief Minister of Karnataka 1996 - 1999 JH Patel , the pillar of strength and an invincible orator, pioneered remarkable reforms during his tenure. His political journey begins with his election to Lok Sabha from the Shimoga constituency and he has created history ever since. In 17 years of the Indian parliament,he was the first member to debate in Kannada thereby leading to the acknowledgment of the use of regional languages in parliament and the right to speak in their native tongue. He served as the cabinet minister in Ramakrishna Hegde and SR Bommai’s government .His significant achievements include the formation of 7 new districts , implementing information technology and foreign investments, investment on the irrigation projects like Malaprabha , Ghataprabha, VisvesvaryaCanal,Varuna Canal and Almatti dam brought about great relief and hope to farmers of Karnataka. A charismatic leader and an acclaimed parliamentarian ,he was well loved by the people of Karnataka .

Ramakrishna Hegde Position: Chief Minister of Karnataka 1983 and 1988 Ramakrishna Hegde was the first non congress Chief Minister of Karnataka and was the first ever General secretary of the Janata Party for Karnataka. He was also in political power as a member of the Rajya Sabha between 1978 and 1983.In his tenure he implemented Kannada as a language of administration. He is the only minister to have produced 13 financial budgets in the State assembly. His early administrative experience was built in S.Nijalingappa government. During his tenure as the Chief Minister , he initiated many welfare schemes for the weaker sections and the minorities : distribution of free uniforms and books , widow pension, maternity allowance for working women, debt relief to farmers to name a few. He was the first Indian to establish the Lokayukta, to enquire into the corruption charges against ministers . A powerhouse , an efficient administrator and his unflinching loyalty towards the people of Karnataka made him a role model in the eyes of many.

  5. Sharad Yadav Position: National President of Janata Dal 1999-2016 He was born on 1 July 1947 in a farmers’ family of modest means at Akhmau village in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh. Educated at Robertson College and Jabalpur Engineering College, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh in B.E. (Civil). President, Students Union, Jabalpur, Engineering College, 1971; influenced by the teachings of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia; active youth leader and participated in a number of mass movements; Detained under MISA during 1969-70, 1972 and 1975; played a significant role in the implementation of Mandal Commission recommendations. Sharad Yadav has won four times in 1991, 1996, 1999 and 2009 from Bihar’s Madhepura Lok Sabha constituency from where Acharya Kriplani was elected in 1957. He also won thrice from other Lok Sabha constituencies. He has been defeated thrice from Madhepura constituency – twice by Lalu Prasad Yadav in 1998 and 2004 and by Pappu Yadav of RJD in 2014.

  6. He was elected the first time from Jabalpur (MP) constituency of Lok Sabha in 1974. It was the time when JP Movement was at the peak and he was the first candidate chosen by Shri Jai Prakash Narayan for political arena on election symbol of Haldar Kisan. Again, he was elected from the same constituency in 1977. He was elected from Badaun (UP) Lok Sabha constituency in the year 1989. Thereafter, he has been contesting from Madhepura Lok Sabha constituency except in the by-election caused by Lalu Yadav resigning his seat in 2004. George Fernandes Position: Indian statesman

He plans on revamping infrastructure in rural areas by creating better drainage systems, and underground water reservoirs. He also wants to focus on creating and conserving small forest areas in every Panchayat of Karnataka.He gives more importance to real-life experience and is of the opinion that knowledge and education should not be confined to the classroom or textbooks.
