  1. Touch Screen Kiosks Strengthening the Mining Industry ~ Industrial Touch Solutions Experts

  2. The use of touch screen kiosks in the mining industry is growing, and not just for the use of clocking on and off to mark attendance at work. Touch screen kiosks are playing a vital role in company-wide communication and the safety of all staff. Let’s take a look at how touch screen kiosks are making a positive impact in the mining industry. INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH FOR THE HARSHEST CONDITIONS

  3. Keeping up-to-date with internal news from management Communicating with the administrative teams Communicating with HR teams, especially to view and apply for internal roles, or apply for leave Accessing, viewing, and printing payslips Conducting staff training Accessing internal documents on the intranet Reviewing emergency procedures Responding to upcoming training events or other internal events The list goes on … Employee Self-service Solutions

  4. Digital Tracking for Staff Safety One of our valued mining customers, Kirkland Lake Gold Forestville, installed our touch screen kiosks for the safety and protection of their underground miners. Kirkland Lake Gold Forestville is an underground gold mine located in the Central Victorian Goldfields region. With a labyrinth of over 45km of tunnels, the challenge was keeping track of everyone at all times. If an emergency situation occurred, management and security teams wanted a quick and easy way to find out where all staff were located at any given time. We worked collaboratively with their other technology and hardware partners to deliver a full touch screen kiosk solution with 3D digital tracking software that provides a simple robust way for the underground miners to self-check in/out, be quickly located, and readily return equipment after each shift via their custom software.

  5. Touch Screen Kiosks for Visitors and Contractors Check-in kiosks located at main entrances to mine facilities are used by visitors and contractors who come onsite. The check-in kiosks can be fitted with cameras to capture photos, as well as printers for producing self-adhesive name badges. On departure, visitors and contractors can simply checkout by scanning their visitor badges. If any visitors need to complete inductions on arrival, they too can be completed via the check-in kiosks. Touch Screen Kiosks for Staff Inductions Given the nature of the work in a mine, it is ever so important for all staff to complete inductions prior to commencing, and even more important to be kept up-to-date with any new procedures. Touch screen kiosks assist HR and administration teams to ensure that all employees complete the inductions as and when required to ensure the site remains compliant.

  6. What Makes Our Touch Screen Kiosks Suitable for the Mining Industry? Here are some of the key features that we think are important; • Commercial grade touch screen with toughened glass for high-traffic use. • Tamper-resistant design with key lockable access door. • Robust steel construction with a durable powder-coat finish, with the bonus option for branding. • 10-point multi-touch technology allows miners to use simple gestures like pinch, pan, and zoom to easily navigate the touch screen kiosks. This can be comforting for staff who are not tech-savvy or comfortable with using a computer.

  7. Free-standing design for easy transport should the kiosk need to be moved to a different location within the mine. This helps the kiosks to remain accessible for all staff. There is also an option to bolt down the base plate. The power and data feeds can also go through the base plate for tidy cable management. • A range of peripherals are available, like a stainless steel keyboard if the application requires it. Whilst most interactions can be performed via the interactive touch screen, keyboards can offer a little more flexibility when entering detailed information. Stainless steel keyboards are designed to withstand heavy use in harsh environments where dirt, dust, and grime prevail. Built-in multi-speed cooling fans and louvers. • Easy to maintain with flush edge-to-edge finishes allowing the equipment to be easily cleaned and sterilised with alcohol/isopropyl products.

  8. Mining Locations also use our Commercial Grade Touch Screens Many mining sites also use our commercial grade touch screens in common areas, planning offices, and where digital signage is required. Some people question whether normal displays can be used in situations like this, however we strongly advise that industrial touch screens will do a far better job. Our article on the Advantages of Industrial Touch Screens over Normal Displays outlines what makes a touch screen industrial grade, the top features, the key advantages, and who is using them. If you would like to explore which of our touch screens or touch screen kiosks can be integrated with your mine, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our sales team who would be happy to work with you to find the right solution.
