  1. Mama Maya – A Phenomenal Woman

  2. “The desire to reach for the stars is ambitious. The desire to reach hearts is wise.”

  3. I still remember when we moved to Hyde Park, upstate NY. I loved the beauty of it: the nature, the water pond in my apartment complex, the openness of the environment and much more than my mind could even fully digest at the time. It was a whole new medium of art I wasn’t even aware of before. I had never seen such beautiful landscape. It was a different kind of beauty that I had seen in Lahore, Pakistan - the place that I had left behind for a purposeful future. After couple of weeks, the loneliness had crept in and I had no clue of how to handle it. I was missing my family and friends, but didn’t have the words to express my feelings.

  4. No money, no car, and no language. I was really bored out of mind. I found myself searching for a library nearby. I was able to read and write in English, but speaking was a whole new level of daunting. I walked one and a half miles to the nearest library in hope for something to excite my soul. Luckily the first book I happened to pick up was by Maya Angelou. After that I read most of her books and found motherly refuge in her writing. It became my escape. Somewhere I could immerse myself in her words.  Since then, I have been calling her Mama Maya. Like many of you, I felt deeply affected by the loss of Maya Angelou. I mourned the loss of the powerful example of womanhood, and non-judgmental love for sisterhood.

  5. Even as a lost, lost young woman, listening to her speak and knowing that the language of love, power, sisterhood, and freedom she spoke was my native tongue. I learned to surrender to the wisdom of books, and especially Mama Maya’s books. I learned to go through life with grace, power, and joy from her.

  6. I felt like, she was allowing me to watch her learn in her books. Every time I saw her eyes light up on TV, that’s what I wanted. I wanted her constant state of wonder and gratitude and insatiable curiosity about people and truth. I believe that is the secret to joy. The secret to joyful success is to live your life wide-eyed and open-handed, ready to receive the gift wrapped inside every person and experience, and then willing to allow everything and everyone new to change you.

  7. Her teachings have helped me grow as an individual and life coach.  It will be my pleasure to serve you and mentor you through your tough times, just like Maya’s books assisted me.  I believe that every encounter is holy, and it’s because of her teachings that I had made this discovery. The secret to joy is being ready and willing to life, like today is the first and last day you have got down here. Make the impact that you are here to make, nourish your soul because this is way to self-love, and search fearlessly in pursuit of what makes you, a better you. I am with you in this journey.  I am your online life coach, available on Skype, Phone or in Person.  So, connect with me and I will guide you through the process of self-realization. • Much love, peace and grace.
