INDIRA UNIVERSITY CENTRAL LIBRARY 1.ABOUT US- The Central Library is committed to envisaging higher educational resources to School of Business, School of Pharmacy, School of Commerce, School of Liberal Arts and School of Computer Science. In addition to the Central library each school has a departmental library to fulfill students and faculty needs. The Central Library is an apotheosis of knowledge resources for Indira University students and faculty. We are committed to supplying highest quality of resources for creative, educational, cultural and academic performances of our users. The Indira University Library offers a modern, efficient, and spacious environment for both students and faculty. 1.Automation and Technology: ○Koha Library Software: The library’s automation using Koha software streamlines operations such as cataloguing, circulation, and resource management. This enhances the overall efficiency and user experience. ○Biometric Attendance System: The biometric attendance system ensures secure and efficient tracking of library visits, making it easier for staff to manage and monitor library usage. ○Knimbus Digital Library: It provides single point access to all subscribed and open access e-resources thus making the search easy for users. 2.Spacious and Comfortable Environment: ○Library Area: With a size of 2295 square meters, the libraries of IU offer ample space to accommodate huge number of students and faculty. ○Seating Capacity: The overall seating capacity of 1170 students ensures that there is enough room for users to study, collaborate, and engage with resources comfortably. 3.Multimedia Section: The inclusion of a rich multimedia section with wi-fi and computers access provides students with various learning materials, further enhancing the library’s value as a resource hub. 4.Extensive Collection:
The library offers highly acclaimed national and international publications like Pearson, Tata McGraw hill, Harvard Business School, Cambridge, Oxford, Emerald etc. We provide online access to case study collection, research articles and published papers of Harvard Business School to our faculty and students. 5.Extensive Online Resources: We provide access to NDL, N-LIST database, Ebsco Elite database, Tata McGraw hill, Pearson, Nlist, Etprime, Delnet, Magster, Proquest from single point of federated search platform. oProQuest Database: With over 23,000 eBooks, this resource offers a rich collection of knowledge across various disciplines, greatly enhancing the research capabilities of students and faculty. oEbsco Database: Access to over 700 international journals provides students with high-quality academic research from leading journals in different fields. Our library houses a rich collection of online resources of 23000 plus eBooks on Proquest database and 700 plus international journals online access on Ebsco database. oCapitaline Financial Database: Access to this database helps both students and faculty in gathering up-to-date financial data, supporting their projects and research. This tool is especially valuable for those interested in studying Indian and international companies, sectors, and industries. 6.High Footfall and Engagement: a.Special Collections on Key Days: By showcasing collections on important days like Yoga Day, Youth Day, Women's Day, and others, the library fosters awareness and reflection on various important themes. This adds an educational and cultural dimension to the library's offerings. b.Training Programs and Activities: The library’s regular training programs ensure that both students and faculty can make the best use of available resources. Additionally, book talks and book review competitions promote reading and analytical thinking, while offering an enjoyable platform to express ideas. c.Readers Club: The initiation of the Readers Club activity plays a key role in fostering reading habits among students. The added incentive of presenting book reviews through videos and receiving rewards like bookmarks and prizes makes it a fun and motivating experience for students. d.Attendance & Activities: The library's popularity is reflected in the average daily footfall of 165 students apart from library period in timetable. This not only indicates the high demand for resources but also shows how students utilize the
library for various activities such as reading books, engaging with multimedia, and staying informed through newspapers. Book Bank scheme for 80 plus ensures that a set of textbooks is issued and used by students every semester for exam preparation. Library plays a central role in supporting academic development and fostering a culture of research and continuous learning.
