It has 25 members and is engaged in production, standards execution, certifying goods schemes, and testing and standardization services. It is a National Standard Body of India. BIS or the Indian Standards Bureau's headquarters are situated in New Delhi. The offices also contain five regional offices located to Chennai in the south, Kolkata in the east and Mumbai in the west, Chandigarh in the north, and Delhi(central).
Why is it necessary to register for BIS? The Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) was introduced in 2012 by the Compulsory registration scheme (CRS) and the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) (BIS). Under this program, manufacturers must declare their goods until they are on the market.
BIS Registration is required if you want to sell a specific product in India and if you want to list all products included in the Compulsory Registration System (CRS). Any producers irrespective (foreign or Indian) must apply to import the product into India for this registration or to sell the product to the Indian market.
The BIS registration process is divided into two stages: Step 1: The sample of the product shall first be provided for testing according to the established IS standard by the "BIS Approved Indian Laboratory.“ Step 2: Secondly, apply for a specified filled-in form VI with the lab test report, produce papers, information & enterprise at BIS Office after obtaining the test report. BIS Registration Certificate will be issued following a review of all submitted documentation & records.
