Viraj Institute of Medical Science (VIMS) 1st Floor, Agamkuan Main Road, Chhoti Pahari, Patna, Bihar 800007 1800 419 8443 paramedical courses Paramedic Training Course - What You Should Know About It Probably one of the most entrusted professionals, that we may come in contact with is the paramedics. Our lives can depend on how responsible these people are, and what type of paramedic training they have been exposed to. These are the front line professionals responsible for the primary care, when an individual is in need of urgent medical attention. Why I say we trust them, its because very seldom do we question their actions, at least at that critical time. In hindsight we may have some issues when the emergency has passed, and more logical thinking takes over. Credit must be given when credit is due. These highly trained individuals are required day in and day out, to be clear minded well ground individuals, capable of making split second decisions. Many times these decisions can mean the difference between someone living and dieing. How they respond in their job, is largely based on the type of qualified and intense paramedic training they have been provided with. Qualifying for paramedic training can be achieved in two ways. One being, by studying supporting courses to the university level, and the second, by working as a ambulance technician for a period of time. In addition to the medical aspects of the training, they are also required to have a clean driving record. This is understandable because of the type of urgent response driving techniques that will have to be applied. They must be physically fit, because often their services will be required in unfit and dangerous conditions, Plus eye site is critical as well. Although most states will allow prescriptive glasses. The most common or traditional methods to becoming a paramedic is by having some hands on experience as a ambulance attendant. This is probably most beneficial during the paramedic training because the student will have had some field training. They also know what to expect when in the field. This will allow them to visualize where their paramedic training will fit in. Most courses will want at least one years experience in the ambulatory field. Once the qualified student has been accepted for training, the course usually lasts about 12 weeks. It is a very intensive 12 week program. Experience
must be gained in all major departments of the hospital. In addition to this, it also involves the book study of anatomy and physiology, as well as pharmacology. Once each area of study has been competed satisfactorily, then the graduate is a fully trained Para medic that can apply for registration as such. Being a paramedic is a extremely rewarding but stressful career. Not only is the paramedic training extensive but the expectations of high assessment in the various areas of study is high. Ambulance drivers are often the first ones to arrive at the scene, but the paramedics are usually not far behind. They are responsible for assessing the patient's condition, deciding on an emergency course of treatment and notifying the hospital of the situation. Not only are they faced with the needs of the patient, often they must deal with the family and friends, that are accompanying the patient to the hospital. This requires compassion as well as firmness in keeping the situation in control.
