  1. Difference between HID and LED kits Not sure if you should choose HID or LED? Should you buy the best HID kit or the best LED kit? What’s right for your car? To make an informed decision, it’s important to compare these two lighting options and understand what makes them different from each other. Design HID stands for High-Intensity Discharge. It is also called xenon light because it contains xenon gas instead of halogen. Unlike LED, HID produces light when there is an electric arc between two tungsten electrodes. Meanwhile, LED stands for Light-Emitting Diode. LED bulbs don't contain any filament. Instead, they produce light by transferring the current through a semi-conductor. Energy efficiency Both HID bulbs and LED bulbs consume less energy than halogen bulbs, so in terms of energy efficiency, these two are good choices. But which one is more energy-efficient? The answer is LED. Because they don't have to be heated up, LED bulbs don't need a lot of electricity or fuel to work. Brightness If you want brighter headlights, switch to either LED or HID. Both can emit brighter light than your halogen headlights. But LEDs have the best light output of these three options. That said, some of the best HID kits can also achieve LED levels of illumination. Color spectrum HIDs are available at more color options. The bulbs range from 3,000K to 30,000K. Meanwhile, LEDs are only available from 3,000K to 10,000K. IR light This feature is something that LED bulbs do not have. HIDs emit infra-red (IR) light and visible light, which can help ensure road safety in colder climates. The infrared and light can melt snow and ice that are blocking up the headlights. Price This is where HID kits shine brighter than LED kits. HID bulbs do not break the bank, unlike LED bulbs. So, if you are looking for an affordable upgrade from your halogen bulbs, opt for the best HID kit.
