GRAMM BARRIER SYSTEMS LTD ENVIRONMENTAL AND SECURITY BARRIER SPECIALIST • Timber barriers Available as reflective or absorbing in a range of heights from 1-6m, all barriers are Highways Agency approved, conforming to the latest Tec Memo HA65/94 (Part 1) and HA 66/95 (Part 2), and are further backed up with independent design checks and P11. Sound attenuation for the reflective systems are from Rw 22-35dB and Rw 35dB for the absorptive system with an absorption coefficient of 0.80 starting as low as 200Hz. • Aluminium and steel barriers High density mineral wool has good sound deadening properties and can be encased in either high specification pre- galvanised and painted steel or aluminium panels to produce a light weight sound absorbing barrier. These are used extensively throughout Europe within urban areas and on structures. Low level absorbing barriers – Docklands Light Railway • Transparent barriers A range of systems manufactured from cast acrylic, extruded acrylic and extruded polycarbonate is available. All barriers have been designed to be weather resistant, highly transparent with light transmittance of up to 92% and, in some cases, break resistant with incorporated splinter-binding polyamide threads. Available in thicknesses from 10-20mm, all barriers conform to ZTV- law 88 and fire behaviour to BS 476: part 7 and have sound insulation properties up to 32dB. 5m high timber absorbing barrier for the control of industrial noise – Gerber Foods • Concrete barriers Reflective or absorptive concrete barriers are constructed from a wood fibre concrete material and are designed to be highly absorptive to road and railway generated noise, with absorption exceeding 0.8 over transport spectrum. The product is free draining, self-cleaning and available in various designs and colours. Combined concrete absorbing and transparent acoustic barrier • Accessories The Octagon Reducer is a sound absorbing product designed to enhance the noise reducing characteristics of any type of acoustic screen. When the Octagon is installed on a barrier, a relevant reduction in diffracted sound energy is gained in the shadow zone. This enables barrier heights in new installations to be lowered at the same time achieving the noise mitigation values obtainable with conventional barriers of at least 1m higher. Alternatively, the Octagon can be used to improve the performance of existing installations.
