  1. Does Your Travel Insurance Cover Coronavirus? globelink.co.uk

  2. Travel insurance covers coronavirus? All travel insurance policies are different. You need to check the terms of your policy carefully and be sure they apply to you.

  3. Before you go to your next trip: choose destinations carefully speak to your travel providers check your insurance cover and stay abreast of FCO and local Government advice and comply with it

  4. Be prepared for your trip: Check the advice of the TravelHealthPro website according to the FCO and the WHO website.

  5. If I catch coronavirus while away? Health outbreaks are a general exclusion on your insurance, you should be covered for emergency medical expenses if you contract coronavirus while on your trip.

  6. If I buy insurance now, will I be covered for coronavirus? The coronavirus isn't an unforeseen event now. So, if you haven't purchased travel insurance for your trip, you will not be able to claim for cancelling your trip, or for extra costs you may incur because of the coronavirus.

  7. Booked your trip but don’t want to go because of coronavirus? If this is your disinclination to travel, rather than complying with the advice of the FCO, or WHO restrictions, then most travel insurance policies won’t cover you for lost holiday or cancellation costs.

  8. If I buy insurance for my trip and the FCO later advises against travel? This depends on your travel insurance policy. If you purchased insurance PRIOR to this advice, your first port of call should be your tour operator, airline, or other travel provider.

  9. Can I get a refund on my travel insurance if I am not travelling? There is a ‘cooling off period’ (usually 14 days), in which you can change your mind and get a full refund. But many travel insurance companies are being more flexible with cancellations due to the coronavirus now.

  10. If my transport is denied entry at a port because of coronavirus? Most travel insurance policies will not cover costs incurred resulting from denied entry to a country due to a health outbreak.

  11. If I am put in compulsory quarantine? Get in touch with your travel insurance 24 hour Emergency Medical Assistance Service asap. They may be able to assist with advice and they'll know if you are covered for any costs under your travel policy.
