  3. Who We Are Student Systems and Educational Technologies supports the academic mission of the university through the innovative delivery of solutions for students, faculty, and administration. We take pride in delivering highly-usable and interoperable solutions that empower our users to efficiently and effectively do their work and reduce their administrative burdens. We support faculty in their discovery and sharing of knowledge, enable students to utilize institutional resources no matter their location, and assist administrative units which deliver services to students and faculty. • An applications group within IT@JH • 30 talented and dedicated professionals located at MtW • Business Analysts • Developers

Integrated Student Information System (ISIS) • University-wide implementation of the Matrix Student Suite from SunGard Higher Education • JHU was a development partner with SGHE and one of the first institutions to implement the product • In 2006, SunGard announced they would no longer sell or market the Matrix product and would only provide support through 2014. • Largest capital IT systems implementation project in the University’s history and the largest application in the IT@JH enterprise... until SAP came along • Supports four principal student services: • Admissions • Financial Aid • Student Billing • Records & Registration

ISIS Modules and Applications ISIS is composed of five modules: • Common [Biographical] Data (CMN) • Financial Aid (SAS) • Student Billing (SBS) • Admissions (SMS) • Records & Registration (SSS) ... and is entirely web-based, comprised of two applications: • Administrative application used by student service offices and divisional and university administration • Self-Service application used by students, faculty, advisors, and “authorized users”

ISIS Platform and Technologies • Administrative application is Microsoft DNA based and self-service application is Microsoft .NET based • Middle-tier is a combination of both • A-P clustered SQL Server 2005 database • Currently ~2000 tables occupying nearly 400 GB • Integrates with or leverages other Microsoft products and technologies • AD, IIS, MOM, MSMQ, MTS, COM+/DCOM, Visual Studio • Reporting via SQL Reporting Services (SQL Server 2008) • Utilizes transactional (real-time) replication for reporting

ISIS Interfaces • Astra Schedule • SAP • General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Payroll • Enterprise Services • Directory Services: JHED, Active Directory • SiteMinder • ... and a number of systems that are: • In the divisions (e.g. SOM Admissions & Registration) • External to JHU (e.g. Dept. of Education, financial institutions, online admissions applications, etc.)

Coming in 2010: Astra Schedule VII Room Scheduling Astra Schedule is a class, room, event, and equipment scheduling tool serving nearly all campuses of the university • Tightly integrated with ISIS for class scheduling • Upgraded to the latest version (“Astra Schedule VII”) in Spring 2010 • Introduced many new features • Moved to a completely web-based application Want to learn more? versionvii.com

International Students & Scholars iHopkins is JHU’s implementation of iOffice– a product of Indiana University which is our single system-of-record for data pertaining to international students and exchange visitors • Enables compliance with immigration rules and regulations • Interfaces with student systems, SEVIS and, soon, SAP iHopkins is used by all JHU divisions and supports JHHS • East Baltimore (School of Medicine, Nursing & School of Public Health) • Homewood (ASEN, Carey, School of Education) • Peabody • SAIS Want to learn more? www.indiana.edu/~ioffice/index.php Live in Jan 2010!
