UN Development Agenda • UN conferences and summits generated: • shared vision of development: the Development Agenda • groundwork for time-bound goals and targets • The Development Agenda encompass inter-linked issues ranging from: • poverty reduction, gender, social integration, health, population, employment and education to human rights, sustainable development, finance and governance

  3. Achieving the UNDA • Reviewing progress of the United Nations Development Agenda at the national, regional and global levels • Member States: pursuing the UNDA through National Development Strategies (NDS) • UN system: supporting countries with UNDA implementation

Key 2015 NVP-related Events • 2015 ECOSOC “Managing the transition from the Millennium Development Goals to the sustainable development goals: What will it take” • Key ongoing inter-governmental processes, including the follow-up to Rio+20 and preparations for universal post-2015 development agenda • The Rio+20 mandate calls on ECOSOC to play a "key role in achieving a balanced integration of the three dimensions of sustainable development"

  17. Role of NVP Reviewers • Two to three NVP reviewers to be selected by the NVP country from other Member States • Review the analysis and pose questions • Initiate the discussion on NVPs following the presentation

  18. Presentation Scenario • Cabinet Minister – 10-15 minutes • Up to two accompanying presenters – three minutes each • Moderated inter-active discussion, beginning with NVP reviewers • Interventions limited to three minutes, followed by responses from the delegation

  19. NVP Follow-up • Content added to 2015 NVP summary report and “Development strategies that work” website • National meeting organized by NVP country after the ECOSOC HLS on follow-up actions • Regional follow-up meetings • Report to ECOSOC on actions taken since NVP
