  1. What are the Main Components of a Lightning Protection Design? https://www.lightningprotection.com/

  2. • A robust lightning protection design system is the first step in any electrical system to ensure the safety of your employees, and prevent damages to assets and properties. • Over the decades we have built an experienced team and gained a wealth of knowledge concerning every aspect of our industry. Below we share with you some commonly used terms and their definition. https://www.lightningprotection.com/

  3. Lightning protection system Terminals / Lightning arrestors • A complete system of strike termination devices, main conductors (which could include conductive structural members), grounding electrodes, interconnecting conductors, surge protective devices and other connectors and fittings required to complete the system. • Also known as lightning rods, is installed on roof ridges, dormers, chimneys, ventilators, and or other tall structure to divert lightning harmlessly into the ground. It was invented by Benjamin Franklin in 1749, over 265 years ago. https://www.lightningprotection.com/

  4. Lightning protection design Bonding • The proprietary and comprehensive plan and/or drawing incorporating a lightning protection system, grounding engineering and surge protection solutions; completed by engineers specific to a facility’s needs. It’s created to protect the facility against lightning strikes and lightning’s secondary effects. • An electrical connection between an electrically conductive object and a component of a lightning protection system that is intended to significantly reduce potential differences created by lightning currents. https://www.lightningprotection.com/

  5. Components.. • Bonding connections - these are made to equalize the potential between grounded metal objects bodies or electrically conductive objects and a lightning protection system •Surge protection devices - A device intended for limiting surge voltages on equipment by diverting or limiting surge current that comprises at least one nonlinear component while remaining capable of repeating these functions. • Transient - A sub cycle disturbance in the ac waveform that is evidenced by a sharp, brief discontinuity of the waveform. • Ground termination - These are typically copper or copper-clad rods driven into the earth a minimum of 10 feet in depth. • Grounding Electrode– A portion of a lightning protection system, such as a ground rod or ground conductor that is installed for the purpose of allowing lightning current flow into the earth. • Main conductor - Cables, which interconnect the air terminals to ground
