2. INTRODUCTION The journey of rice begins in fertile paddy fields, where seeds are planted and nurtured by farmers through months of careful irrigation and sunlight. Once matured, the paddy is harvested and dried to reduce moisture. It then enters the rice mill, where it is cleaned to remove dust and impurities before passing through de-husking machines that separate the husk from the grain. The rice is further polished to improve texture and appearance, followed by grading and sorting to ensure uniform size and quality. 3. RICE MILLING PROCESS Harvesting Drying Cleaning De-Husking Paddy crops are cut and collected from fields once they are fully grown and ready for milling. Paddy is dried under sunlight or in dryer machine to reduce moisture, prevent fungus & ensuring safe storage. Impurities like dust, stones, sand, straw, and unwanted materials are removed to ensure pure and clean paddy. The hard outer husk of paddy is removed to produce brown rice using huskers or rubber roll machines. Paddy Separation Polishing Grading Un-husked grains are separated from brown rice and returned for re-husking, improving efficiency and quality. The bran layer is removed to make white polished rice with better appearance, texture, and shine. Rice grains are sorted by size and quality to separate whole grains from broken ones for uniform output. Color Sorting Packing Color sorter machines remove damaged, discolored, and defective grains to improve quality and appearance. Rice is packed in clean, airtight bags to maintain freshness, safe storage, and easy transportation to markets.
