  1. Volunteering – step to the future in Amarante My ESC experience at Casa da Juventude Natalia Rakowska

The beginning I graduated from the University of Warsaw Law School in June of this year, and I felt that before entering the workforce, I would like to try something different, go on an adventure, meet new people, and explore new horizons. That's when I discovered the European Solidarity Corps project, and it turned out to be a perfect match for my aspirations, making my dream come true.

Main themes of the project  Youth: fostering a healthy lifestyle, youth engagement, and shaping youth policy;  Inclusion-equity: leading activities with children, supporting individuals with disabilities, and engaging with seniors to ensure inclusivity and equity for all;  Creativity and culture: organizing local events, curating cultural agendas, project management, hosting intercultural nights, and offering a variety of free time activities;  Sustainability: engaging in work on organic farms to promote environmentally friendly and sustainable agricultural practices.

In schools and kindergartens, we conducted a range of fun and enriching activities, including:  yoga sessions to promote physical and mental well-being;  invigorating stretching exercises for improved flexibility;  interactive games designed to spark creativity and enhance cognitive development.

  8. Activities 2. At senior centers, engaging activities like yoga, stretching, meditation, and dance foster a motivating atmosphere. These promote physical and a sense enjoyment, making them truly engaging and experiences. and lively activities well-being of shared invigorating

  10. Activities At the senior center, we also enjoyed engaging with the elderly by offering various creative activities, from crafting autumn ornaments to creating artwork. We also found joy in pampering the senior ladies by painting their nails, creating a fun and relaxing atmosphere for everyone involved.

  11. Activities 3. We also visited centers for individuals with disabilities, engaging in various sports activities with them. Among the sports we enjoyed together were basketball, where we cheered each other on, kayaking, which allowed us to bond while exploring the beauty of the outdoors, dance, and many others.

  12. Activities 4. As volunteers, we got to lend a hand at different organic farms, and let me tell you, it was a blast! We dabbled in vineyards where they make Portuguese wine, hung out with adorable animals, and even tried our green thumbs at a pistachio tree farm. It was a fantastic way to get back to nature, learn a bit about gardening, and support local farmers.

  15. Activities (I could) experience an exciting farm adventure as I visited wineries, was engaged in grape picking, got hands-on with label application, assisted in the bottling process, and gained insights into the art of crafting wine and grape juice.

  17. Activities 5. Every Saturday, we did a vibrant organic market. At this market, we sold fresh fruits and vegetables sourced from local organic farms in Amarante, with the aim of supporting the local community.

  18. Free time Let's not forget that throughout the project, we have some free time that I seized to explore the stunning landscapes of Portugal. Below, you can find snapshots from my visits to Porto and Lisbon.

  19. Conclusion I really recommend getting involved in European Solidarity Corps projects. For me, this adventure will be something I remember for a long time. I got to meet fantastic people from all over the world, felt so good helping others, stepped out of my comfort zone to explore fantastic places, and dove into the amazing world of Portuguese cuisine, history, language, and culture. It was an incredible experience!
