If the answer is yes, there are a number of steps that you can take to achieve this dream. Maintaining a sustainable home is also easier on the pocket. Let us look at a few ways through which we can create a sustainable home: 1. Recycle– Recycling should be a habit. It is one of the first steps towards having a sustainable home. For items that you cannot recycle yourself, you will have to get in touch with your professional recycling centre. Recycled, or reclaimed bricks is also the best material to use while constructing your house. 2. Make Necessary Repairs– One of the primary reasons of environmental pollution is the use of old and outdated home appliances. It is important to continuously monitor and repair your air conditioners, gas furnaces, generator, refrigerator etc. 3. Proper Insulation– A proper insulation system is the key to having a sustainable home. In case you do not have a proper insulation system, you are letting some useful energy and forcing the air to work harder. 4. Upcycle Frequently– Not only is it environment friendly, upcycling also looks trendy. Turn your old furniture into new home décor items. You can also use old jars and turn them into pots for plants. Using timber cladding on your walls is also an environmentally friendly method. 5. Turn off Lights– This is probably the simplest method of all. Turning off lights and other electrical appliances when not in use can help save a tremendous amount of energy. Follow the above tips and create a beautiful, sustainable home.
