With increasing pressure to minimize carbon footprint and meet consumers’ demand for environmentally responsible practices, the world is shifting towards resilient and sustainable logistics systems. In an era where economic growth moves parallel with environmental conservation, more businesses have adopted sustainable measures to achieve their corporate sustainability goals. In this regard, Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) has emerged as the best alternative for green energy, particularly in the transportation sector. With the plan to achieve net zero carbon emissions, India aims to have a third of its heavy-duty long-haul trucking fleet fuelled by LNG instead of diesel in five to seven years to cut pollution. To help the nation in this, conglomerates like Essar Group have unveiled their sustainability plans by adopting LNG in transportation. Essar’s LNG ecosystem is a story of collaborations, partnerships, and a shared vision to push India towards decarbonised road logistics. Having now overcome the organisation’s hurdles related to Essar insolvency, the company remains committed to positively changing society. Shifting the needle on LNG truck adoption will be pivotal in India’s progress towards turning Net Zero by 2070. This blog discusses Essar’s plans for its LNG ecosystem, adopting electric vehicles (EVs), and much more.
LNG Ecosystem- A Cleaner and Greener Alternative According to a report by Research and Markets, the global LNG truck market worth USD 1821.60 million in 2022 is expected to touch the USD 3593.15 million mark by 2029. LNG, being the cleanest burning fuel, offers a compelling solution by burning significantly cleaner than diesel. It is the best alternative for minimizing carbon emissions from heavy trucking, especially for long hauls. LNG-powered trucks emit up to 28 per cent less carbon dioxide, 70 per cent less carbon monoxide, and 59 per cent less nitrogen oxide than diesel trucks. Moreover, particulate matter emissions significantly contribute to air quality deterioration and are 91 percent less in LNG-powered trucks. Thus, governments and regulatory bodies in different regions are implementing incentives and policies to encourage the adoption of cleaner fuels. Presented By : Larana Corporate
Essar’s investment in Green Truck Manufacturing Blue Energy Motors (BEM) represents Essar’s commitment to revolutionizing the heavy-duty trucking industry with zero-emission technology. Focused on transforming the carbon-intensive, diesel- dependent sector, BEM manufactures LNG trucks that are an innovative and sustainable environmental and economic benefits. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, BEM delivers next-generation, green trucking solutions to its customers, enabling the transition towards cleaner, more sustainable transportation. alternative delivering both
Essar’s Partnerships and Investments in Green Transport Ecosystem Essar Group, with a diversified portfolio spanning energy, infrastructure, metals & mining, technology, etc., recognizes the significance of sustainable logistics for the country’s economic growth and environmental well-being. Aligning with its initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, the group introduced LNG trucks within the logistics sector through GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd., a key player in Essar’s Green Mobility initiative. GreenLine Mobility currently operates a fleet of more than 500 LNG-powered trucks and plans to add another 1,000 such trucks by March 2025. Each of GreenLine’s 55-tonne LNG trucks can carry a 40-tonne payload and travel up to 1,200 kilometers on a single tank.
