  2. Essar Group has always been one of the leading players in driving sustainability, and its ongoing initiatives in clean energy, steel, infrastructure, and other sectors showcase this commitment. Among various projects in building ecosystems for low-carbon hydrogen, green mobility, renewables, and green steel, one of the most crucial projects of Essar is the establishment of its Green Hydrogen Plant in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The conglomerate has announced its ambitious plans to invest INR 30,000 crore over the next four years to establish the green hydrogen plant. Despite being pulled into Essar litigation, the company has remained focused on overcoming issues while remaining committed to rebalancing its portfolio towards cleaner, greener businesses.

  3. Hydrogen Plant in Gujarat Essar’s Green Hydrogen Project in Jamnagar, Gujarat, will harness 4.5 GW of renewable energy to separate water molecules to produce hydrogen and oxygen. The process known as water electrolysis helps generate hydrogen, which is considered the cleanest energy source, emitting only water when combusted. Hydrogen has numerous applications; it is used to power vehicles, generate electricity, power industries, and heat homes and businesses. Moreover, green hydrogen plays a key role in addressing the key challenges of decarbonization across various sectors. Essar’s foray into green hydrogen will have substantial economic and environmental impact. The investment will generate more employment and boost local economies while positioning India as a significant global green hydrogen market player.

Moreover, the sustainable benefits of green hydrogen, which emits only water upon combustion, align with global decarbonization goals and the Paris Agreement’s targets.
