RFID Projects • More than 40 regular members, 58M€ of R&D funding including 21M€ of public funding. • Twelve « labellised » projects : • Seven already financed (PAC ID Grande Distribution, RFID Authentication and Privacy, RFID Trace Agro, PAC ID Biobanque, PAC ID Pharmacie - Mistrals-, Fire) par l’Etat et/ou les collectivités territoriales. • Three « co-labellised » (RFID Trace Agro/PEIFL, RFID Aéro/ Pégase, FIRE/Pôle Risques), • … with 9 SMEs, 9 large companies, 6 laboratories. • Three other projects are within the « labellisation » process. • Main business sectors: Health, Agribusiness, Mass Distribution, Sécurity, Aéronautics, Logistics. Why a national centre for RFID? • Despite a mature technology and large government R&D funding, market is not taking off. • Main identified reasons: • insufficient information on the potential users side. • diversity of problems (what is the good solution?). • lack of turn-key solutions (especially for SMEs). • lack of standards for usages. • lack of knowledge of legal requirements. • Government has decided to help the set-up of a light structure made of users, suppliers, academics and all organisations concerned with RFID to help solving these issues.
