  2. Know How To Crack Cpa The very beginning of your US CPA career can be very overwhelming. From applying to successfully clearing your exam, it’s hard to imagine what complications a candidate goes through. This article will help you understand the entire process with step-by-step guidance so that you don’t have to stress about it. Step 1: Check US CPA Eligibility The first and foremost step is to determine whether you are qualified/eligible to take the exam or not. Each state sets different education requirements to sit for the uniform CPA exam. In India, marks are evaluated on a percentage-based basis which is converted to credit points that are acceptable in the USA. Candidates need a minimum of 120-semester hour credit for the same purpose. Step 2: Applying for Candidature The next step is to apply for candidature with a US State Board of Accountancy. The candidates have to apply to one of the 50 states or 5 US territories (total 55 state boards of Accountancy)

  3. The US CPA license is awarded by all the 55 accountancy state boards. Each state board has its own eligibility rules. After the process of application review and confirmation from the State Board of Accountancy, an application needs to be forwarded to NASBA (National Association of State Boards of Accountancy). NASBA governs the application process for CPAs - candidates’ applications are tracked and reviewed on the NASBA portal. Step 3: Scheduling the exam To schedule the exam, the candidate must acquire NTS (Notice To Schedule). NTS is the legal document that allows you to sit for the uniform CPA Exam. To obtain the NTS, all the candidates are required to apply with their specific state board of accountancy in advance. Each NTS is valid for 6 months from the date of its issue. On average, different states require 4-8 weeks to process your request. After receiving the notice to schedule, candidates can choose the date and time of examination as per their preference at an authorized prometric center. Please note, it takes approximately 3 to 6 weeks (varies depending on the state board) to receive your NTS. The EduMont Academic team is happy to assist its candidates in applying for an NTS with your State Board of Accountancy, per your preferred exam timeline.

  4. Step 4: Clear the CPA Exam With a thorough and a deeper understanding of the concepts and vigorous practice, all the aspiring candidates can increase their chance of passing the exam. EduMont Classes ensure you are thoroughly prepared for the exam by introducing a well-prepared study plan. Also, it is important to note that after clearing the first exam, an 18-month time limit is applied to clear the remaining 3 exams; this is mandatory as per the AICPA standards. International candidates have a period of three years to clear the CPA exam and apply for a license from the date of the final result. AICPA’s congratulatory letter contains the final scores of the candidate. All the international candidates need to fulfill certain requirements to become the CPA, like: 1. Pass all 4 CPA exams 2. Have a minimum of 150-hour semester credits 3. Have 1 or more years of work experience 4. Clear the ethics exam (this exam is not mandatory for all states). To obtain a license, candidates need 1 year of experience which has to be signed and verified by a CPA. For EduMont students, we have the in-house capability to verify your past work experience. Also, it is important to note that to apply for a license, most of the states have the rule where the candidate requires 150-hour semester credits and work experience. However, if you don’t have 150 credits then some states do allow a 120 rule. Here, if the candidate has 120 credits, he is required to have 2 years of work experience. As always the Edumont academic team proactively guides the aspirants in navigating the rules and in applying for a license as soon as they clear the exam.
