When your feelings turn to emptiness and hopelessness and you don't want to leave, it may be time to seek help. Depression can affect the things you enjoy and can affect how you function in your daily life. Just getting through each day can be hard and feel overwhelming. Understanding depression can be the first step in overcoming this problem.

This means that everyone gets sad or gets the so-called "blues" from time to time. When your feelings turn to emptiness and hopelessness and you don't want to leave, it may be time to seek help. Depression can affect the things you enjoy and can affect how you function in your daily life. Just getting through each day can be hard and feel overwhelming. Understanding depression can be the first step in overcoming this problem. Depression: what is it? Depression is a mental illness that affects thinking, energy, feelings, and behavior. It can range from mild to severe and in some cases can be mentally and physically debilitating, affecting a person's family and professional life. It is possible to minimize the effects of depression by accessing information and support and finding ways to manage the condition. What should I do if I think I have depression? Depression has eight main symptoms and the advice is to talk to a family doctor or psychologist if you notice five or more of these symptoms lasting two weeks or longer. Symptoms are: Emotions: depression, sadness, anxiety or boredom Energy: Lack of energy, fatigue or exhaustion

Sleep: insomnia or insomnia, frequent awakening at night Thinking: slow thinking or poor concentration Interests: Loss of interest in hobbies, family, social life, or work Value: low self-esteem Pain: Physical pain without a physical basis, e.g. B. Chest/head/abdominal pain related to anxiety or stress. Life: Loss of interest in life, thoughts about death, thoughts of suicide What should I do if I think depression is a factor for me or a loved one?
