  1. Sustainable Inks – Contribute to A Greener and Sustainable Printing Industry Every section of society is doing their best to reverse the damage that human beings have done to the environment. In every industry there is conscious effort to opt for greener alternatives to the harsh chemicals that were being used earlier and the printing industry is also making its contribution with sustainable inks. The earlier inks with plastisol are being replaced with more eco-friendly options. First let us look at what sustainable inks are about. Let us look at some of the eco-friendly ink options available in the market. Water based inks Water-based inks are among the most environmentally friendly printer inks available because they don't include the PVCs found in Plastisol and other inks and leave a lot less of a carbon footprint than plastic inks. Custom t-shirts printed with water-based inks are much less likely to end up in a landfill after a few washes because these inks survive significantly longer than inks made of plastic. Algae ink It turns out that eco-inks like the ones derived from algae can be just as successful as petroleum-based inks, replicating the rich black colors of carbon-based inks without any of the harmful effects. Algal inks are used for more than just t-shirts. In fact, this ground-breaking ink can be used on mailers, hangtags, rubber stamps, and boxes. In other words, the future may arrive earlier than we anticipate. Vegetable inks Vegetables contain oils, which not only have superior clarity and faster drying times than plastic inks, but are also significantly more environmentally friendly. As a result, the printing procedure can be sped up and the colors of sustainable inks made from vegetables can appear more vibrant, which is one advantage of inks made of plastic. The eco-friendly attempts of the printing industry don’t stop at this, because consistent research is going on in this industry to make it morefriendly to the eco— system of the planet.
