  1. Removal of hardness causing salts: Water treatment are used to remove the hardness and impurites present in water ,These are of two types: 1.Internal Treatment 2.External Treatment

  2. Internal Treatment: The following internal Treatment conditoningmenthdos are used as the prevention of scales: 1.Collidial conditioning 2.Carbonate conditioning 3.Phospate conditioning 4.Calgon conditioning 5.Alum conditioning

  3. External Treatment: Introduction: This is used mainly for softening of water. This is of 3 types they are: 1.Ion-exchange process 2.Lime soda process 3.Zedite process

  4. Ion exchange process: 1.Cation exchanger(RH+) 2.Anion-exchanger(ROH-)

  5. Reverse Osmosis: Introduction: Reverse Osmosis is a technology that is used to remove a large majority of contaminants from water by pushing the water under pressure through a semi-permeable membrane.
