  2. What is a Tooth Extraction? A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth by an oral surgeon. It’s usually done to remove a diseased or infected tooth. Tooth extractions can also be done to remove a cat or dog’s teeth if they’re causing problems for the pet owner. Tooth extraction can cause a headache in some people. This occurs because the surgery can cause pain and pressure on the brain. The headache may last for several hours after the procedure.
