The online newspaper is becoming a more sought-after option over the years. Rapid, accessible, and dynamic Online newspapers and digital editions of printed newspapers are popping up everywhere. They're much more user-friendly than traditional newsroom. They provide instant updates video, multimedia display and many more features. Online newspapers let readers communicate directly with the paper. Readers can now leave comments, view videos, see slideshows of photographs and sometimes contribute their own opinions as well as written pieces to the newspaper. The variety of access options also helps in the popularity of the online newspaper. The readers can read the newspaper directly from their smartphones or tablets. The growth of hyperlocal online newspapers has also been a major factor in their success. Aol's Patch launched more than 80 online newspapers in the past year, a huge difference from the almost 700 websites Patch began to launch in 2010. Main Street Connect, a relatively newcomer to the online newspaper world has launched 32 hyperlocal online newspaper websites this year. Both publishers say they will be adding more local online newspapers as the year goes on. The Dubois County Free Press in Indiana began publishing their newspaper online on April 26. The newspaper was created as a means of attracting readers with more exciting news. Subscribers will be able get more news-related content that is richer through the combination of audio and video from an online source. Many older papers simply post their article in PDF format that has static ads and the same content as the paper edition. Reputation in Online Newspapers In the absence of paper, ink and construction costs for traditional newsrooms, and delivery, an online newspaper can reduce costs while still providing the latest news to its readers. But, they aren't all roses and rainbows. They have their own sour points. For example, the credibility of an online newspaper could often be called into question. The online newspaper has to prove its value in a highly marketplace that is competitive. At this point in an industry that is competing with the traditional newspaper that has been in the community for eight years and being only a news site on the internet it is not able to establish credibility to a certain extent.

  2. The Missing Newsroom The traditional newsroom is absent from the digital newspaper. The traditional newsroom is no longer available on the internet. Instead staff members are working side-by-side in their offices and sharing their ideas with each colleague. The online news does away with the need for a standard newsroom, since the stories can be updated remotely from a home computer or even using a smartphone. In the absence of an actual newsroom, journalist relations also are in a rut. It's a shame that journalists don't be a journalist in the newsroom. Online newspapers have faced the challenge of the absence of a standard newsroom as well as less staff which have led to smaller editorial content. Without a substantial staff, the ability to conduct deep investigations into issues has been lost.
