  2. Visiting the Byodo-In Temple in Hawaii ◦ The Byodo-In Temple can also be called Hawai'Ike Temple, TMT Center, or Waimea Temple. It is located in the Hana area of the Big Island on the island Oahu in July 1969 as a centennial commemorative of the 100th year of Japanese immigration to Hawai'Ike Island. Every year, more than one million people travel from around the world to Honolulu to visit the Byodo-In Temple. Many choose to pray at the sacred temple every single day. ◦ Visitors aren't allowed to enter the main gate. However, you are able to view the inside of the temple by standing just a couple of feet from the gate. One wall of this Buddhist temple features an image of a seated Buddha with the hands of the Buddha statue holding a 3-ton bell on which the names of all past rulers and followers are written. This bell, dubbed makau (womb bell), is located in the center of a large bell-like sculpture of a human. This bell serves as the bell tower of the sacred temple, and visitors are allowed to listen to the monk chant prayers.

  3. Visiting the Byodo-In Temple in Hawaii ◦ Two pavilions are situated on the opposite side of Byodo-In Temple. They each contain a small statue and plaque that lists the names and dates of the previous rulers of the sacred place. A photo mosaic of a local farmer and his dog is located on the other side of the temple. The third pavilion, which is located in the valley of temples memorial park's southern portion, is empty. Some of the other items in the pavilion include A small brass buddha sculpture, a photograph of a native of Hawaii and a bouquet of flowers, and a small lantern with the words "In loving thought" inscribed on its outside wall. ◦ Go Hawaii Tours can help in your search for day trips for more activities to do in Hawaii.
