  1. The Savannah Cat About - Creature Companion The Savannah cat is an active and self-confident cat that loves to interact with people and other cats. Intelligent and inquisitive, he is always on the lookout for interesting tasks, the more daring, the better. Give him lots of tough, sturdy toys and frequent playtime, or you may find that he can become quite destructive. He becomes firmly attached to his family and makes an effort to be close to them, including learning to walk on a leash or looking for toys. If you don't show your affection by nodding, he may be looking for water to play with. This is a happy and fun cat that gets on best with someone who loves to play and interact with him. When he grows up with them, he gets on well with children, other friendly cats, and dogs. The Savannah's short coat is easy to groom with weekly brushing or combing. Trim your nails and clean your ears as needed and don't forget to brush your teeth. The History of the Savannah A kitten bred as a domestic cat from a servant (a small African wild cat) in 1986, was the beginning of the Savannah breed. This first-generation cross was called the

Kelly and her breeder colleague Joyce Sroufe started a breeding program and wrote a standard for new cats. What You Need to Know About Savannah Health All cats have the potential to develop genetic health problems, just as all humans have the potential to acquire a particular disease. Run, don't go, any breeder who doesn't give kitten health guarantees or tells you that their kittens are isolated from most parts of the household for health reasons. Sheets are generally healthy, but it is always advisable to buy your kitten or cat from a breeder who has a written health guarantee. Remember, once you have a new kitten in your home, you have the power to protect him from one of the most common health problems: obesity. Keeping a Savannah at an appropriate weight is one of the easiest ways to protect his overall health. Make the most of your preventative skills to have a healthy cat for life. The Basics of Savannah Grooming Sheets have a short, luxurious, and soft fur that is easy to care for with weekly brushing. He'll crave attention, and if you brush him more often, you'll find less dust and hairballs around the house. The rest is basic service. Trim your nails as needed, usually weekly. Check the ears every week for redness or foul odors that could indicate an infection. If the ears look dirty, clean them with a cotton ball dampened with a mild ear cleaner recommended by your vet. Brush teeth frequently at home with a vet-approved pet toothpaste to help maintain general health and breath freshness, and schedule veterinary dental cleanings as needed. Begin brushing, clipping, and teeth brushing early so that your kitten can do this activity. For more information visit our website Creature Companion.
