  1. The Savannah cat Elegant and tall, the Savannah cat was introduced in the latter half of the 20th century. Savannahs are actually a hybrid breed that is as a result of crossing with a Siamese cat with an untamed and a servile. The wildness of the breed is on the full display. Savannahs retain the huge ears and long legs and spotted coats from its African feline heritage all the while still maintaining the gentle manner of a pet that is domestic. The most important thing to be aware of about the Savannah cats are massive. They can be quite large. Savannah cat can reach up to 17 inches and weigh up to 25 pounds according to the generation. The first generation of crosses (called F1 and F2) generally bigger than later crosses and feature gorgeous spotted coats with shades that include brown, tan and black. The later generations are farther removed from their wild relatives and yet they have the same patterns and colors of the earlier generations. They're also smaller and less gentle. Savannah cats are extremely loyal, intelligent and curious cats however they may not be the ideal choice for cat owners who are new to the world of cats. Although they were first introduced some time ago, Savannah cats are still very rare. Some states have limitations on them, usually depending on the generation. It is an excellent idea prior to you bring home the Savannah cat. Appearance

  2. Talk about class! The Savannah cat's lean, tall body and stunning streaked coat make these beautiful creatures appear a little like miniature Cheetahs. Savannahs can be seventeen inches high and are declared the tallest domestic cat in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records. Male Savannahs can weigh up to 25 pounds, whereas females may weigh as little at 12 pounds. Their weight and height depend entirely on the number of generations the cat is from her wild ancestor. It's not the definition of a "jungle cat. Savannahs are muscular cats with the strong bodies and the spotted coats of their serval ancestors but beneath are loving, friendly house cats. The coat colors that are recognized by Savannah include brown, black tabby silver spotted tabby as well as black smoke. Their coats are compact, dense and easy to maintain by just a few brushings every couple of weeks. Another feature that differentiates Savannah cats in comparison to other cats are their eyes. Slightly hooded and almond-shaped with a dark tear duct line, the Savannah's eyes give her a striking, friendly-yet-piercing gaze. Eye color usually reflects the coat's color, however it's not always. Heather Tarticchio, Savannah cat breeder behind the TICA-registered Savannahs registered with TICA, St. Louis Savannahs believes it's crucial to research your options prior to taking home kittens. Temperament If you're looking to find a lazy lap cat then a Savannah isn't the right option. The active and athletic feline tends to jump over the top of the cabinets in your kitchen (Savannahs can leap up to 8 feet high) rather than just sit by their food bowl. Always looking for new adventures to take on and discover, the Savannah cat is usually thought to be more cat-like than dog-like. They are agile and light cats are also water-lovers and will certainly not hesitate to splash into the tub along with you or play in a child's pool. Savannahs are also easy to train and some owners prefer to let their pet walk and take them out on outings in the outdoors. The socialization of socializing your Savannah kitten is essential since these large house cats are prone to becoming uneasy around strangers. Like canines, Savannahs are exceedingly loyal and follow their preferred human around the home to have a good time, earning them the title "Velcro kittens." Savannahs are known for being extremely vocal and have various distinctive vocalizations however this isn't always true. Click to know more about Cat breed, visit our website Creature Companion.
