  1. EARLY SIGNS OF FIBROMYALGIA YOU SHOULDN’T IGNO

  2. Introduction: Spot the clues early and life gets a little easier. Miss them, and day-to-day pain can creep up on you. If long-term comfort is the goal, this guide will help you understand what to look for and what you can do next.

  3. What is fibromyalgia? Fibromyalgia is a long-term pain condition that affects the whole body. People often report widespread aches, poor sleep, fatigue, and thinking or memory problems. Prevalence estimates vary, though it is common and more frequently reported by women. There is no single test to diagnose, but a GP or specialist can assess you based on your symptoms and history. Currently there is no cure for fibromyalgia, but symptoms can be managed.

  4. 8 early signs to watch 1) Widespread, persistent pain A dull, ongoing ache across both sides of the body, above and below the waist, lasting at least three months. Other issues can mimic this, so get checked if it sounds familiar. 2) Sleep problems • Stress and anxiety held in the body • Trauma recovery (as part of a comprehensive approach) • Sleep disturbances related to physical tension • General overwhelm and need for nervous system reset

  5. 3) “Fibro fog” Trouble with focus, recall, and mental clarity.Conversations are harder to follow and work takes more effort. If this keeps creeping up, speak to your GP. 4) Sensitivity to touch, sound, light, or smells Gentle contact can feel sore. Bright lights, loud noises, or strong odours may set off discomfort. This sensitivity can include allodynia, where non-painful input feels painful.

  6. 5) Frequent headaches Pressure around the forehead or behind the eyes is common. Some people also feel dizzy or nauseous. Headaches often sit within the wider symptom picture. 6) Morning stiffness • Getting out of bed can feel like your body is locked up, even after rest. Stiffness often eases as you move through the day.

  7. 7) Digestive trouble Bloating, constipation, or diarrhoea can show up, sometimes alongside irritable bowel symptoms. The gut and nervous system are closely linked, so this pattern is common. 8) Daytime fatigue and low mood • It feels like you never slept.Ongoingpainand tiredness can chip away at mood and confidence. If anxiety or low mood is present, let yourclinician knowso support can be tailored.

  8. How clinical massage may help While massage does not treat the condition itself, many clients find symptom relief when sessionsare tailored to their needs. Gentle myofascial work, trigger point therapy, and relaxation-focused techniques can help reduce muscle tension, improve comfort, and support better sleep. Clients often say this makes daily tasks more manageable, especially when combined with pacing, movement, and good sleep habits.
