  1. FORMS, SIZES, AND BASES OF STANDARD DINING ROOM TABLES When it comes to selecting a table that will meet your or your family's needs, there are countless alternatives. Even if there are countless color and design options, it's crucial to keep in mind a few universal principles when picking an oak dining set. Size, form, and the kind of table base are a few of them. Shapes The number of guests you may sit at the table depends on the table form you choose, which should fit in your dining room pleasantly. The two most popular table shapes are rectangular and round. Long, narrow rooms work best with rectangular (or oval) shapes, which also offer the maximum table space in such a setting. Rectangular table options typically offer the greatest seating for customers that need to accommodate a large number of people at their table (more than 6). For square rooms, eating nooks, and open concept areas that are open to adjoining rooms like the living room, round oak dining tables are popular choices. Round tables normally accommodate four to six people but can be cozy and friendly because everyone is seated facing one another. Sizes While several custom-order businesses can create a table in any size, the majority of round and rectangular tables are available in standard sizes. Tables with a rectangular or oval shape are typically 30" or 36" broad by 48" long. Four persons can comfortably sit at small rectangle tables. These sizes occasionally come with leaves that extend the table to 60" or more in length, easily seating 6 people. 42" wide by 60" long rectangles are the most typical size. This size easily accommodates six people, and the majority of them will have leaves to extend the table beyond 60" in length for additional seats. Default Types Table bases, or the legs that support the tabletop, have an impact on the table's appearance as well as how your chairs will fit and your guests' comfort. Many rectangular oak dining tables have four legs on each of the four corners. As a result, it is possible to push chairs up to the table without worrying about

  2. a pedestal or trestle obstructing people's access to the space beneath the table. Certain bigger rectangular table sizes feature a trestle foundation, which eliminates the table's corner legs and places structural support in the table's middle. The ability to place extra chairs at the table's corners or more than one chair is a benefit of this arrangement.
