THREE KEY THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT CHIP

Similar to Medicaid, CHIP is financed jointly by the federal and state governments. To support states to expand coverage for children, the federal government harmonizes state spending on CHIP at a rate 15 percentage points higher than the Medicaid matching pace. CHIP was created in 1997 and incorporates children in families that are not eligible for Medicaid due to their revenue, but still have difficulty purchasing health insurance. Since the program was instituted 20 years ago, the portion of uninsured children has descended from 14 percent to 5 percent. To know more visit https://www.capbluecross.com/CHIP
