  1. Inpatient vs Outpatient Rehab - Which One is Right for You?

  2. There are two types of treatment options for alcohol or drug addiction: inpatient and outpatient rehab. Neither is a more effective method compared to the other. It’s a question of which one fits your schedule, temperament, and even budget. • As the name suggests, inpatient rehab is when you check into the facility for the duration of the program. You are not allowed the leave the premises. Outpatient rehab, meanwhile, gives you the freedom to come and go as long as you stick with the requirements of your treatment.

  3. This Presentation will just outline the advantages and disadvantages of each option and leave you to decide for yourself. Inpatient Rehab Pros : • You are under close supervision by counselors and qualified personnel inside the drug and alcohol treatment program • You feel that you are part of a bigger community with people who are battling the same demons as you do • You are far away from temptations and distractions and so you can focus on your treatment

  4. Inpatient Rehab Cons:: • You sacrifice your freedom for all that 24/7 supervision in the drug and alcohol treatment center • You follow a rigid schedule so you don’t control your time • You may have to take a leave of absence from work • You may have to incur more out-of-pocket expenses

  5. Outpatient Rehab Pros: • You can continue living your life without disruption even as you are undergoing treatment • Treatment cost is cheaper • You can involve your family as some sessions offer the opportunity to do so • You can immediately apply in real-world scenarios what you learn in theory inside the center

  6. Outpatient Rehab Cons:: • Sessions in alcohol and drug treatment centers are scheduled in the evening and weekends so that takes time off for your family • You are exposed to temptations and distractions • Limited time to interact with your counselor

  7. Of course, these do not cover the whole gamut of advantages and challenges on inpatient and outpatient rehab. • But now you already get the idea of what to expect from each treatment option. The main thing is to talk to your family, friends and support system and come up with a plan that suits your unique situation. • The next thing is to talk to the counselor at the center who can give you a more comprehensive overview of the changes you can come to expect in the next few weeks.
